Hang on guys, you don't think it's news worthy that they've installed millions of dollars of kit and it's not doing what it's meant to do months later ?

I find it pretty alarming if they've installed the kit, and it's not produced a very significant, nay game changing level of production.

I would have thought the kit is installed and production has risen to level xxx, we estimate that we could now handle x and y production based on mixture of oil and water at the different points.

After all for at least two years they've been telling us that the system is maxed out by the amount of water, so surely if the kit was working there would be a material increase already, even if that didn't tell us anything about the maximum capacity they might expect to get ? (because this will depend on the water/oil mix at the two water seperation points),

I would hope we would be in the situation where water is no longer a factor in liquid processing then we could look at opening up new zones to add oil capacity,

Agree with ee on this. Just watching the trading lately it's clear to me that some folk are having a bit of fun moving it around at will. The price action is therefore almost certainly as a result of boredom rather than anything fundamental.

kenobi,I take the opposite view. The water handling would only have been newsworthy in itself if either a) it had resulted in a material fall in production or b) if it had resulted in a material rise.I think one can fairly conclude that neither has occurred. However, I believe that the water-handling will facilitate a material increase in 2018, PROVIDING THAT the budget for next year allows for sufficient drilling and other work. They can say nothing on that until the budget is agreed.....hence, IMO, no news yet.

Thing is we know they started installing the water separating kit, so what's happened ? If it all went well and was done and dusted that's news surely.

Perhaps there's some other info, or some reason why we've not heard, but is it any wonder in the absence of news that the price wobbles a bit ?

The management know this, they can see the price, I assume there are good reasons why we've not heard anything.

We can draw our own conclusions, some good, some bad ? again, any wonder the price drifts down ?

Hopefully we'll get a blockbuster upgrade with a deal and maybe that will explain why the info has been held up. On the other hand we might get an update that there have been some issues with the kit, and it'll take longer and cost more.

Who knows which is most likely ? or is something else more likely ?

...its weird, I know, but Regulatory NEWS Service announcements only appear when there is some actual NEWS to report. No NEWS means no NEWS. :-)As everyone knows, there has been a great deal of internal navel gazing this year and a lot of effort to get deals done (that have yet to result in signatures on paper). So there is no NEWS that CAN be reported.......unless you want to invent some news about the fluff content of the navels...... ;-)Generally that isn't considered good practice for any serious company.....even on AIM.

The downward channel looks much less impressive on the three year chart.........more a case of "aggressively sideways". ;-)But

From a company that was posting RNS's on a regular basis, the absence of news is deafening. I hope there are no issues with BOD.

I'm not a big fan of charts either but it's still a pretty impressive downward channel that Soco has been in ;-)

I'm not a big fan of charts but if I was I'd note that that's a pretty impressive downward channel SOCO has been in for the last 12 months or so.

Well it isn't Monday (yet, anyway) which presumably means that the meeting to set the 2018 budget hasn't yet happened. But it should be this week.

I'd settle for the sort of year-end move we saw in 2004.....and I think the market is set up for it.

Strong move last couple of days - perhaps the sales pitch has started? Looks to me like some larger interest in volume.

Well I was off on my Thursday news wish so now let's see if EE's Monday news comes true. Perhaps the "strength" today is hinting he might be on to something! Can always dream.

....I did think about it - but actually I don't think there are feet paddling furiously below the surface at this particular point. There is still a duck connection, though, as I suspect their ducks are pretty well lined up - and it is just a case of waiting for some trigger event(s) .....one of which may well be the JOC planning session for 2018 budgets.

It may not look especially exciting from the outside here in the short term but, at the absolute minimum, we know the company is solid and cash-generative.

Thought you were going to start talking about ducks there for a minute EE. I certainly hope the feet are going like crazy and we get some news. Suppose a few more days will not hurt. Been waiting long enough but was hoping this week. Thursdays are a good news day ;-)
