Another hurdle overcome. Trouble is that as soon as one excuse is no longer valid, another lame one is invented. I hear they have been experiencing difficulty shipping the rig over to Nigeria because apparently there is some sea in the way. Anyway, tomorrow is the promised day for drilling, so let`s hear it for Bobo and the boys, ra ra...

After almost 18 years of been in the woods without clear consideration by successive governments and the legislature, President Muhammadu Buhari, has finally received the harmonised copy of the Petroleum Industry Governance Bill (PIGB) from the National Assembly for assent into law, THISDAY learnt from the Nigerian Natural Resource Charter (NNRC) yesterday. It was gathered that he PIGB was sent to Buhari on Wednesday by the assembly. The NNRC thus called on the president to assent to the bill as soon as possible to enable reforms in Nigeria's oil and gas sector kick off immediately. The assembly had in March 2018, harmonised the PIGB which is expected to introduce new reforms in the governance of the oil industry. The PIGB would also bring up new regulatory agencies in the industry, as well as reform the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) into a commercially viable entity. The omnibus Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) from which the PIGB was carved out had passed through many executive and legislative challenges without success. At a point the bill was close to been passed by the seventh National Assembly after it was re-introduced by the government of former president, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, but could not go through before its tenure ended. In March, NNRC disclosed that Nigeria may have lost over $235 billion due to its inability to conclude work on the bill. It also said Nigeria was no longer as competitive globally or even within the continent of Africa, stressing that comparatively, over the last five years; Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Ghana have all passed their respective petroleum sector bills in 2012, 2016, 2015 and 2016 respectively.Similarly, to make it easier to be passed, the 8th National Assembly decided to break the omnibus Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) into three – the PIGB; Petroleum Industry Fiscal Bill; and Petroleum Industry Host Communities Bill. The PIGB was then passed and the remaining two expected to be passed by the assembly next.Related Post2019: Obasanjo Tells Nigerians to Get their PVCs for Positive ChangeOyegun to Stand Down from APC National Chairmanship RaceTrump: Nigeria's Democracy in Grave DangerOlanipekun Urges Caution over Calls for Buhari's ImpeachmentTHISDAY Investigation: Only 12 States Generate Electricity for NigeriaIn response to the transmission of the bill to the President, the Programme Coordinator for NNRC, Tengi George-Ikoli, stated that the responsibility of getting the bill into a law now rests with Buhari."With the transmission of the Petroleum Industry Governance Bill to the President, the onus now rests on the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to demonstrate his commitment to petroleum sector reforms for the benefit of the Nigerian people and assent to the bill with immediate effect."The requisite petroleum sector institutions must also prepare to support the seamless transition and implementation of the bill once passed," said George-Ikoli.Similarly, the Nigerian Association for Energy Economics (NAEE) last week called on Buhari to quickly assent to the bill before he starts off his campaign for re-election in 2019.Meanwhile, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, has denied having any entrenched interest in an Oil Mining License (OML) 11, as recently claimed by an organisation called the Ken Saro Wiwa Associates (KSWA).Kachikwu, in a statement sent to THISDAY by the Director of Press in the ministry, Mr. Idang Alibi, said he had no conversation with oil firm, Chevron, on the oil block.----------------This is good news now this is out the way more likely we will see further updates and more confidence with future partnerships and joint ventures.

I would have thought that the majority of the staff would be in the companies who are actually carrying out the operations i.e. the consortium / partners, including Guarantee Petroleum??

SRSP is just the "Banker".

depends who the staff are aventador i would rather have 10 people who know what they are doing, rather then 50 idiots who have not got a scoobie and draining the pay roll. just a case of more waiting here but hopefully something good will come of it all. if we can get the good news we all hope for here then what share price value can you put on this sort of growth company could be explosive with the right news.

i see bmd on twitter has let rip at sirius, his not the only one frustrated, just be nice to get a bit of closure here and finally be told whats going on. the news about the new office is good maybe anyone else in the area can keep putting their heads in and get some updates. if these 10 sirius people are moving in next month then hopefully someone can bump into some sirius board members there and get to ask them outright whats going on

'We have yet to have any official company disclosure of 241, what makes you think that this governor bloke is going to spill any beans?'

He's indicating that that the Bresson/Owena/OPL 241 talks have stalled.

” We’re ready to work with anybody. We are ready to partner anybody who’s interested...' (from a Nigerian article posted on April 6th 2018)

Have they not got partners already?....are we not a partner in Ororo?

The relation between SRSP and Owena Oil and Gas is not in dispute...allow me to point you to an authority on the subject.

(ref 12:38)

tThis was posted three weeks ago..
'Responding, Governor Akeredolu said, “We have the Ororo OML 95. We have the OPL 241 . These are what a number of us called ‘great assets.

” We’re ready to work with anybody. We are ready to partner anybody who’s interested. These assets, particularly, oil blocks are veritable tools for economic development'

It doesn't sound as if they're up and running.....or about to be drilled....if they were, you'd think the Governor of Ondo State, who purports to own 100% of Owena Oil and Gas that has a 45% stake in Ororo, would know about it....and refer to it?.....and be exited by the up and coming drilling project.

It's not the sort of info I would normaly post on these threads...but as we're kept in the dark and being fed bull sh*t. with nothing else to work on...I'm trying to push the BOD to make some form of comment.

Ondo State wanted to sell OPL 241.... but Dr Mimko stuck his oar in and tried to claim it I for himself via Owena Energy......(the numbers mentioned in the URL are ridiculous)

"I think we can forget all about drilling Ororo to production."

Well that's a shame, DrR., I always wanted to own an oil company, ever since I followed JR in Dallas as my role model!

Hoots mon, a blast from the past. Back after a 3 year absence. Mind you, his acclaimed MAR turned out to be a dud.
Yes, kit out the office, NewSirius has completed its Ondo tasks. Time to move on to new ventures, with a load of cash. I think we can forget all about drilling Ororo to production.

Agreed aventador! It's not what potential the bod are working on is working on and may well be doing a great job for us that people are doubting. It's the timescale and missed deadlines with lack or clarity from the bod that is the most frustrating thing here
