I will excuse your rant JakNife, as you seem somewhat stressed. Perhaps your shorts are not performing as expected ? My commiserations. For your information the MeyGen project is indeed one of the biggest tidal stream projects on the planet. There are other forms of tidal energy which utilise vertical tide, but these do not come into this category. Simec's expertise is to do with tidal stream technology, in which particular sector they are a trailblazer. The fact that they have installations in Japan speaks volumes for their expertise.A little reading before you rant, may help prevent you jumping in with both feet.

Bruce, the best summary of the scheme is from the horses mouthhtTps://www.cfdallocationround.uk/aboutI'm hoping we may see an expansion of the MeyGen project which is sadly well below it's capacity for generating electricity.A windfall tax on big oil companies would go a long way if the money is ploughed in to projects like MeyGen. They are currently enjoying the fruits of sky high prices.

Further to last post, Wheeze, many thanks for the document, which I have just scanned through, and provides an excellent overview. Their arguments for benefit of a tidal power industry in this country are obviously very strong, with the additional prospect to come, of exports. The recent Indonesian preferred supplier agreement might be considered a strong confirmation of this idea. Post Brexit, I cannot see anything but support from our current government on this theme.

Like I say, i think the company is best viewed as a punt on this technology, and as you say, with first mover advantage, and a great working model in Meygen Scotland.

That said, I am still wrestling with my understanding of CfDs, which I'm more familiar with as a financial instrument for stock investors - can you explain in very stupid language for me, how this works for SAE? TIA.

Simec is one of the worlds leading tidal energy companies and is a trailblazer in the field. Yes the road ahead may be rocky but there is a potential for a billion dollar company in the making.

Good posts, and helpful to hear different views. I actually got re-involved yesterday, having previously held. It so far owes me nothing, but I would agree this is a high-risk/reward play on renewables, in a climate of great governmental willingness to subsidise not just green power ideas, but UK based, potentially 'world-beating' (dreadful term!!!) green power plays. But to me, the Uskmouth project is more of a complication to the main proposition, namely, tidal power, an industry where the technology seems well established, but the roll our is in its infancy. A bit like ITM and green hydrogen about five years ago!

I'd be interested in knowing, Jaknife, how that NAV of 12.9 is constructed, and why, aside from falling values (you only have to look at the share price!) you think this misleading.

The chart is very promising, at least on the emas, and if there is any truth to the NAV, the share price has a lot of disappointment built into it, which could leave appreciable upside.

Hello skinny, I am down exactly 50% but with many many more shares than I previously held. I have sticky fingers which is a problem for those who wish to drive the price down. They like distressed holders bailing out at ridiculous prices.Remember there are around 700 million shares in issue, so if you have a million shares, that is one seven hundredth of the company. I may lose the lot but I am backing the planet here and that makes it seem less of a gamble. Not one for widows and orphans so dyor everyone

Lots of posters here with no clear declared interest. I do have shares in SAE, currently underwater like the turbines but happy to hold.Reasons to be positiveI believe the Current market cap of 20 million undervalues the technology, the existing infrastructure in relation to the MeyGen project and Uksmouth site. They also have a first mover advantage which is significant.Scottish Enterprise has given Simec a loan of 2.5 million which will allow them to deploy a further turbine in May. I don't think they would throw away two and a half million quid on a failing company. There is massive pressure on HMG to promote green energy. Increasing petroleum prices make green energy more viable.Simec is one of the worlds leading tidal energy companies and is a trailblazer in the field. Yes the road ahead may be rocky but there is a potential for a billion dollar company in the making.Part of the reason for the fall in share price is the fallout from Greensill and Sanjeev Gupta. I cannot see that he has been selling his shares. If U.K. plc allows this company to go bust for the sake of a few million in debentures, then they are bigger fools than I believe they are. Round 4 CFD awards should be announced soon.Lots of buys going on, someone may be accumulating. Don't get swayed by daily fluctuations. One things for sure, there has been a massive spike in volume. Always do your own research and take your own risks. Never invest more than you can afford to lose. I have bought and will hold, either for the bitter end or for happy days.Good luck to all holders. Bankruptcy to shorters.

Best way to value this, surely, is as a tidal power specialist with some well appointed brownfield real estate in South Wales - ideal for a battery plant. And, as JK points out, some debt, that will need rolling over. TBH, I'm not sure how you value this, without danger of making into into a gold mine, that is, Mark Twain's definition of one -a hole in the ground with a liar at the top. But its mcap is c.20mstg, so maybe start from there?

The Indonesian 'preferred supplier' agreement does look promising, but still jam tomorrow, and without certainty. But tidal power is a nice niche to be in, with huge potential, and in a way I'd prefer to be investing in that than the other.

I had forgotten about the Indonesia opportunity as it had seemingly all gone very quiet. SAE do have a habit of forming lots of JVs and partnerships that ultimately dont go anywhere. Off the top of my head, I can remember one with Ideol for floating wind, an unnamed partner for data centres, an algae based CCS project at Uskmouth this one with SBS and obviously the subcoal fuel pellets with NPP. The key one though is in France with the regional government in Normandy. I have high hopes we will see significant progress on that front in the next 18 months.

JakNife called SAE wrong in his article of several months ago and is now desperately trying to bash the stock as he knows what a rally would do for his popularity.
