Drakeford will hopefully find out the error of his ways when the good folk of South Wales descend upon his mansion, lit only by the torches they carry. Winter is going to be cold and dark this year.

I guess the cranes have gone by now and in any event I don't think Mark Drakeford would ever condone the concept of burning plastic pellets no matter how clean it could be. Blinkered minds I'm afraid but we'll see if much has changed from my own experience.

There is still time to rekindle the Uksmouth project. Generating energy from plastic waste which is incinerated anyway

We will need gas and oil too for many years and the need to recognise fracking as a way out of the mess we're in, is urgent. I hope from day 1 Liz Truss puts planning to one side and allows fracking immediately - we were able to use emergency legislation in the war and its really no different now.

He is also promising multibillion-pound tax cuts for businesses today - but will he be in the job next week!

Kwasi Kwarteng was extoling the virtues of hydrogen at the ITM factory as Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy last year - I believe he is now pencilled in to move to number 11 - words are cheap for these transient ministers - its action that is required.

Mountain man, I agree with you completely. There is no point in giving handouts with a windfall tax. Give the money to green companies for investment in tidal energy, battery storage, hydro projects whatever.

Nadhim zahawi on the news extolling the virtues of tidal power and talking about a great British company in the north of Scotland! At last a minister who is recognising the power of the sea that surrounds us! There's hope for mankind yet!

£700m for Sizewell C and £20m for tidal! Madness prevails! We should be backing tidal energy and fracking for gas. Stop turning agricultural land over to solar and grow our own food would be a step forward.Carrie has now told Boris it's nuclear energy we need and that I think is her parting shot. Oh, and we all need to buy a new kettle as it will save us £10 quid a year in running costs! Well that's all right then. No worries!

What would really help the tidal industry is a £1 billion interest free loan for 15 years provided by the oil majors. I am totally against any windfall tax on them but this would I think help those who are against oil and gas. They would be able to see that o&g would be funding this area of renewable energy. Meygen could be built out very quickly which is what's needed and other locations too.One billion between Shell, BP etc is peanuts.Just a thought.

Lets take wind power , the major players who are getting the spoils from this technology are from Germany and Norway , the UK gets a token return , and the same in Nuclear , profits will go to France and not the uk , that is until RR produce their mini units , but those are at least 20 years away.

WheezeI'm afraid they exist in large numbers in all parties. No one with enough common sense. Only fools ignore tidal energy, which is what is happening now.

Am afraid this bunch of Tories are not up to the job , and this includes Boris , we are an Island nation and Tidal should be at the front for future energy supply , we may well have to rely on foreign investment to make things happen in the UK big time .
At least the SNP are in favour of this technology .

Have done a bit more digging. Looks like next CfD auction will open in March. Details on budget allocations should come through ahead of this and final results maybe by end of next year. Im hoping we will bid in 100MW+ next time.

Also on the Uskmouth deal, it looks like SAE stand to get £10M total when the project reaches financial close next year and then £1M a year lease payments for 30 years. A far cry from the cash they would have made if the conversion had gone ahead but it starts the process of turning a liability into an asset. Without it, there is no way the company would still be standing.

All in all, interesting times ahead. They will have to run an extremely tight ship and need regular injections of equity but there is a pathway through and a good mix of short and long term milestones for us to track.

Great update on the BESS project. Same the share price couldnt hold onto the initial pop but it significantly derisks things in the short term. Planning approval before the end of the year will be a big step. Im also looking for news on the timeline for the next CfD auction and hoping we will again be able to bid capacity into it with the continuation of ring fenced funding. Change of prime minister is a risk.

Do explain why dave is a scammer , he is entitled to a view here , in terms of the share price today , rather disapointing considering the good news this morning , still we are moving north which is always a nice place to go.

mm's just going for the kill.

1.8-1.9p

Full offer to buy online and just 1.82p to sell. 1.8p was basically the lowest price to buy in first thing on the news
