Oh for goodness sake £100k worth of shares in a company this size is a serious purchase

Thi is a commonplace and cynical ploy by companies that are in trouble and have lost investor confidence (which SWG surely has).

Throwing £100K at acquiring shares is way short of what SWG needs. It really needs Higgins to go - not for him to acquire more stock. Thankfully he only owns 9.7% so any deal cannot be waylaid by him unless he 'concert parties'.

As he is a Billy No mates so that will not happen.

Just needs a buyer. £1.50 will do (for me) but I do not have much stock.

That's a decent confidence vote I'd say.

I agree with the disappointment with the results as already mentioned and like some others, sold a portion of my holding at the open. However, having reflected during the morning decided to buy the position back (fortunately at a slightly cheaper price - luck more than judgement). For this type of company, still profitable and without debt to be trading at just circa 1 x turnover is remarkably cheap. I agree with the £2 valuation, however we will only see that via a takeover unless the board start to reflect the potential over the next year or two.

Higgins seems a really decent bloke, though. CEO from most successful acquistion. Put money where mouth is, buying a lot at 92p lows last time around in October 22. If he says revenues and cash will be strong in 2h I am inclined to believe him. Very tempted to follow him, just can't decide whether to wait til presenation on friday lunchinme.

Agreed, everybody always seems to hype before the results, I think they will make a decent acquisition in the coming months, pound cost average for me.....

Higgins has a awkward presentation in few days. The thing i don't get is? They have 52 new customer wins. even without the FX issues, they would only have still matched last years figures?

This company seems to be doing everything wrong - apparently hedging at or near the bottom for the pound/dollar so not getting the recovery - and the net margins are miserable. Best hope is probably a takeover and clear out of expensive management. There should be a viable business hidden underneath the pile.

Even with taking an “adjusted EBITDA” approach they have broken even and cash has taken a battering so acquisitions are off the table for at least a year or there will be further dilution via placings. This means the model and strategy have changed to a fully organic growth model but they may struggle to deliver the margins to give shareholders a return using that approach ,

Cenkos comments.

The interim accounts bear an unrealised FX charge which has led us to review our forecasts. This liability is now largely hedged and the recent strengthening of GBP/USD has reversed some of this loss. Net cash is lower due to the payment profile associated with a material contract won last year but this will unwind over the next two years. We see these items are speed humps and do not change our valuation of the stock.

Sold my relatively small holding as soon as I could this morning. SWG seem one of those companies prone to banana skins. Core trading isn't as rosy as I expected, and the FX loss is just poor planning with hedging only in place after the horse has bolted (or whatever the metaphor is).

Cenkos have reduced their forecasts:

this year - 2.4p EPS
next year - 4.7p EPS

which leaves the P/E looking expensive for some time to come. SWG will remain on my watch list - hopefully it will deliver for holders in H2, but without say contract win news the share price could drift for some time.
