26/10/2008 10:23 | Looking forwards, the strong first half performance gives us confidence for the future 25 DAYS AGO!!!!!!!!!!!!! Whats changed? | wig123
26/10/2008 10:08 | Veolia warned on profits, flagging falling demand for waste services. This has impacted SKS's share price, being a peer. That's all I meant. The market is fishing for a similar statement by SKS on results day. Veolia's share price has underperformed SKS, although it's difficult to get a gauge on how the market is valuing its individual units (veolia is a conglomeration). It's also difficult to ascertain if the further slowdown is company or market-specific, as many of SKS's peers have been bought out. I held SKS and Waste Recycling Group a while ago, and haven't re-entered. I think at this price SKS are OK for a punt, but I'm holding back as lots of cos looking cheap at the moment. I'm awaiting results with interest though. | little beaker
26/10/2008 09:37 | Reread my post of 21st October and come back to me if you don't understand it. | little beaker

24/10/2008 16:11 | Come on Shanksy, where theres muck theres brass!!!!! | wig123
24/10/2008 11:24 | We have a very nervous market, with disillusioned investors seeing big loses. I would suggest that in these conditions one could well adopt the strategy of the deep sea trawler in a bad sea. Stop fishing, batten down the hatches and ride out the storm. The weather will improve given time, and if you are fortunate to have it, "stay with cash." However SKS is a company which is so essential, that the present fall in the price mainly because investors have given up trying to find the bottom, is at a ridiculous level. Rubbish/waste will still mount up and SKS will be a major player. | w.bramley
22/10/2008 16:02 | like that! | wig123
22/10/2008 12:02 | good advice, nicking a few at every 10 point drop, that way will take advantage of any spike up. Divi looking good at these prices if it is maintained. | wig123
22/10/2008 11:55 | On the slide?? stay with cash, may be a bargain, good company with gov money going in to waste removal, but at the moment still avoid till one sees a definite 20/30% rise from a trailing low point. (Can be set, go to ALERTS) Very weak nervous markets, up on odd days and down the next - recovery will come, but some way off. | w.bramley
21/10/2008 13:47 | Anyone know approx date in Nov results due, and expected divi. tia edit: and is it Greenways the Irish waste firm that bought out Firbanks? may be they are sniffing around Shanks from what I gather. | wig123
21/10/2008 10:29 | agree takeover candidate, with results to be ahead of expectations, they would have to pay a substantial premium to the current price however would still be significantly cheaper than having bid for them 3 months ago IMO | like2share
21/10/2008 09:31 | in at 148.5 , got to be a takeover candidate in coming months. | wig123
21/10/2008 02:45 | Know your competitors: 20th Oct Veolia Environnement, French waste management company, lost 21.3 per cent to 18.43 after cutting its outlook for both investment and operating cash flow for 2008, citing slowing economic growth. Citigroup said in a note: "We believe the reasons for the reduced guidance are specific to Veolia's business mix". Veolia Environnement has announced that the economic slowdown has led to a reduction in its waste activities. | little beaker
20/10/2008 23:37 | Caution - the trend at the moment is clearly down - agree good company, but best to wait and see how far this downturn will go. | w.bramley
20/10/2008 16:48 | An even better price now..Not sure why the drop | shauney2
29/9/2008 16:01 | buy at now 194p? good for recover and bid? | jdung
26/9/2008 12:37 | 200p support line, should go up to 220-250p area. because this company business is good, maybe bid at future. | milton8
16/9/2008 20:28 | Probably will get back in again tomorrow and I think under 200 are probably good value not so much because of their balance sheet which is not very pretty but more their strategic role and if AUG gets taken out they will be the only quoted company in its sector to the very best of my understanding | cerrito
02/7/2008 16:46 | why the sell off | oldvic |
