I wonder why there has been so many deals in SKS today. Encouraging as it is we don't hear much from the board.

Not sure on Symmetrical Charting Triangle? But there seems to be good support at this level and a breakout could be on the cards!!

Is a symmetrical charting triangle forming ? And if so, could this result in an explosive breakout up or down ?

Is anyone able to attach the SKS charts at the top of this thread? They are extremely useful to just have a quick check when you're flicking through the BBs.

Merrill Reiterates Shanks At Buy

Thursday, November 17, 2005 4:53:35 AM ET
Dow Jones Newswires

0931 GMT [Dow Jones] Merrill Lynch reiterates buy rating on Shanks Group (SKS.LN) with a 175p price objective. "First half profits at the continuing activities were 27% ahead at GBP17.6M, and fully matched expectations," Merrill notes. "In particular, the UK activities showed further progress in their turnaround and the PFI contribution was well up." Shanks doesn't expect to close any new PFI contracts for a year or so, "though we believe that it should achieve preferred-bidder status at one or more of its targeted opportunities by next summer." Of the four current targets, reckons Greater Manchester remains the prime opportunity. Shares flat at 152p. (SMT)

Oops - didn't realise results were due today.

No problem there, they look pretty good. Bit of profit taking coming in.

More or less recovered from recent Market jitters. Two strong days suggests just an aberration.

Like most stocks it seems, speculative interest swirls where value exists.

Cant believe our luck with this one - up another 3p.

It doesn't seem to be on spec interest.

This seems to have risen a penny or two everyday for weeks.

No complaints - but perhaps the top of the hill isn't that far away.

I have been ,unsuccessfully, looking for news of a suspected deal being negotiated with a continental co. Does anyone have any concrete info.?

Seems to me the rise is purely based on improved trading - but whatever reason, the price keeps ticking along nicely.

Hi Rabbrooks,

Thanks for the information. It looks like it will be a wait and see situation but there does seem to be something brewing.

Shanks are now a euro/british co. A bigger income is obtained in Europe than in it's British business. A takeover bid for their euro co's must be a possibility, leaving a not very profitable British end which could be attractive to a larger competitor to absorb and make savings in the usual merged manner. These substantial share dealings may be an omen. The dividend has not changed for 5 years. The larger institutions will take the benefit in the form of an increased take out price if the prospects of a higher dividend are not fulfilled.

Hi,

Does anyone know why there has been 4.2 million of purchases so far this morning when this is the highest amount of daily trades since early April and well above their daily volume.

Thanks
