Growth depends on where you plant.

The Shanghai Composite index has risen more than 85% in 2009 to date, while the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index is up 53% in the same period.

these are not steady shares, the regulatory risk is too high.

i'm watching it now. it cd go as low as 950 but shouldn't drop lower than that unless they have difficulty renewing debt as fear of reduced cash flow might prompt brokers downgrade. and in the worst case, it will need to issue new shares but it seems unlikely now.

United Utilities and Severn Trent have been singled out as being two companies particularly at risk because of their level of debt and the size of their dividends.

noddy31...hope u r right, mate!!!
sitting on a loss here, and its my first time ive ever bought into one of these stocks!!!
i feel 4 those who bought these above 1100p a few dayz ago, only to see it drop by over 100p in a many dayz!!
i know it will be back up to that level (and higher) again, but its the waiting and messing around by the mm's etc that does my head in!!

I can see a spike in SVT for 2 reasons.

1) Many people are soon going to find a retrace in the volatile shares, those that have gone up 20-30% in the last 10 days. When the sells start the same money will find shelter in solid and defensive stocks. SVT is one of the best, as it has seen a exaggerated drop of 12% in 4days. This is due a nice 5-6% rebound at the least.

2) SVT has been upgraded to a buy from UBS with a price target of 1145pence.

Others in the same sector have just been downgraded such as Northumbrian Water and Pennon Group.

This shows that SVT is one of the best if not the best in the sector.
