why not just use a trailing stop loss?

Well, my new policy is to bank smaller profits where unsure.

I'd finally got stops up to breakeven (Spreadex wont let me put them any higher despite not being guaranteed!), but feel the markets may be due a pull back.

All said, I think this is probably set to go higher, but still.

Good luck all.

Thanks.

I'm in already actually, from earlier.

I take the view that the markets may be about to drop and take SVT down with them.
So yes, MACD confirmation would be good to see.

I dont know much about the fundamentals either, so figured I'd get a second opinion on my TA.
cheers

the_doctor, saw your post on the DOW thread. I know nothing about the fundamentals of SVT but looking at the chart it certainly looks over sold. There is also a gap to fill 16/17 June. If it were me I would wait until the MACD crosses over for confirmation before I jumped in.

Not sure we've seen any real sign of shorts closing yet. I guess most are sitting on a decent profit, so will be interesting to see what they do.

Look at the 5 yr chart or RSI, MACD and this looks well positioned for a bounce

MIATA - it fell a further 5 points, then up 80 if that's what you mean!

Scotty - I dont know the terms of the plan, do you? Given the even numbers, those shares may have been all they were given under that plan?

re 152,

You can see from the graph above the RSI fell to an even lower level than now in early March, yet the shareprice bounced and then fell further during March.

Looked at a bit of TA

Over the last few years, this has always bounced when RSI at these levels.

I personally think the issues are now priced in and we'll see value-hunters come back.
With the market looking toppy, there may be a return to utilities etc.

the whole point of good dividends is lost if we are asked to send them cash in a diluting rights issue.

what size rights issue at what price?

I think the market is taking rights issue into acccount. They should annouce it while they stil have good equties. I'm virtuall convinced that rights issues/share placing is on the card now.

So revoc2, if you like the prospect of the company, then buy the rights. It should help average your holding. I am waiting for that to happen and act accordingly. It's not all bleak for SVT. That's for sure. Just Ofwat decision which kicked the share price. The board should declare something, perhaps rights issues, very soon.

RECOC2-Chill man, all utilities are down, not just SVT. You will need to hold to the end of the year before you see a significant bounce in the share price I'm down 000's on SSE, it's all part and parcel of trading.

Revoc2 - I really think you should sell, you'll feel much better when you're out. And I don't think you should be involved in the stockmarket, you haven't got the right temperament for it. Good luck anyway.
