Over the last few weeks, Id be surprised if it was PI buying.

The buying is steady and in pretty good/consistent size.

Bid being dropped to facilitate buying?

If the deal goes through with or without waiver and receive our share for 9 months

production from BKR would a %increase in Erskine be on the cards now that its up

sale and we have had to pay our whack to get it up and running.

No Subsea and drilling is a specialist area, a whole new engineering discipline altogether.

Hi DH,

I'm talking about the current subsea wellheads, which are US equipment.
If the field is shut down, the Subsea wellheads are still US equipment.

hxxps://petrowiki.org/File:Devol2_1102final_Page_359_Image_0001.png

I don't think these can be be replaced, basically you have to plug and abandon and drill a new well. The well head needs to be there as you can't isolate the reservoir to replace it.

Not sure about other technology......
(Perhaps some sort of cement plug and be used a re-drilled through after a new wellhead is installed)

Or Perhaps plug and abandon, then drill again to intersect below the plug. They were attempting sth similar on the Deepwater Horizion well. Again very difficult....

GG no we'd only need US help if it was US SS equipment?
There are perfectly good non US intervention services companies etc.?

FB - yes I think that's the way forward re non US SS valves etc. but we'd still have Rhum 1 and 2 US equipment to maintain?

Either way I cant see why the hell we wouldn't get an escrow waiver FFS!!
Whilst I find the chap (Trump) repugnant, with very 'fragile' personality and possibly thick (not sure on that one) the damn thing is he does speak some sense sometimes lol!!

Best of luck all.

It might be easier all round to drill some new wells and NOT use Yankee SS valves...

Rhum 3 and possibly 4 completed with non American equipment could make sense (well it did to me when I typed this).

I agree totally with all the discussion above and pointed out Almvisi's argument for justification as to the deal going ahead, sometime ago myself.
The only small aspect from me - would be what if something did go wrong with the SS valve equipment (which I am assuming is the American stuff) would SQZ not have to have an Environmental approved response plan with the govt for this scenario if in the very very rare case of it going wrong in that manner.

I don't know I hasten to add - I'm asking for discussion purposes?

EDIT seen Almvisis later post.
I assume we could say ok we close the well with BOP equivalent then replace the Sub sea equipment if it fails?
What about maintenance?
How could we circumvent that? None of the non US equivalent manufacturers would take on the 'liabilities' associated with maintaining non company equipment?

Anyone any suggestions?

Page 17...Exception for Shah Deniz and other Gas Export Projects
The effective dates of U.S. sanctions laws and Orders exclude long-standing joint natural gas
projects that involve some Iranian firms—particularly the Shah Deniz natural gas field and
pipeline in the Caspian Sea. That project is run by a consortium in which Iran’s Naftiran
Intertrade Copmany (NICO) holds a passive 10% share, and includes BP, Azerbaijan’s natural gas
firm SOCAR, Russia’s Lukoil, and other firms. NICO was sanctioned under ISA and other
provisions (until JCPOA Implementation Day), but an OFAC factsheet of November 28, 2012,
stated that the Shah Deniz consortium, as a whole, is not determined to be “a person owned or
controlled by” the government of Iran (as defined in Executive Order 13599) and that transactions
with the consortium were permissible. The guidance appears to also apply to the second phase of
the project, which also involves NICO and will carry gas to Europe.

I don't see Rhum as a person owned or controlled by the govt of Iran. Serica will be the operator . INOC are a passive investor.
Surely this has parallels with Rhum.
imho

Well, technically, the gas would still be there - you'd need to drill some new wells or install new SSWH (preferably non US lol)

almsivi,

you have hit the nail on the head, there are problems that limit Serica ability to

operate as efficently as with a waiver but it not the end of the World and I sure

Serica will survive.
