They seem to be issuing waivers where the alternative is a boost for Russia. Both the Azerbaijani jobby and Rhum would benefit the Russians of closed down.

Maybe clutching at straws there GG lol!

The best sign I believe is that the US has told us that two limited waivers have been issued although not yet announced. A Rhum waiver should fit the bill of being a limited waiver and also the fact that it's gas should help given the Azerbaijan waiver which has been announced. Another good sign of course is Serica's confidence that the deal will go through .

Yes good post CoS

"Interpretation of these data has identified Cretaceous shelf slope and platform carbonate plays that big oil has been chasing in the Walvis basin immediately to the north and where Tullow Oil will drill a well in September."
That will be interesting as not long to September now! We will need to keep an eye on Tullow Oil news.

From Upstream online 30 AugustFarm-outs on the cards for Africa playersSerica Energy plans to sell part of Namibia stakeOff Namibia, Serica and its partners - state-owned Namcor on 10% and local player Indigenous Energy on 5% - need a partner to fund an exploration well with an estimated dry hole cost of some $30 million. In return, the operator is offering one or more parties "a material share" of its equity, said an Envoi flyer, adding that the current licence period runs until December 2019 but does not contain a commitment well.Serica has already acquired 4179 square kilometres of 3D seismic in the southern part of the 17,000-square kilometre licence.Interpretation of these data has identified Cretaceous shelf slope and platform carbonate plays that big oil has been chasing in the Walvis basin immediately to the north and where Tullow Oil will drill a well in September.Serica has so far mapped six prospects and leads with the four main closures holding a combined mean resource potential of more than 2.5 billion barrels of recoverable oil.Cretaceous source rocks have been identified.Prospects B and F are drill ready with the former described as a very large Lower Cretaceous carbonate platform structure with a recoverable resource potential of 700 million barrels. However, Serica wants to first drill prospect F due to the presence of a seismic direct hydrocarbon indicator and because it is located in a water depth of about 500 metres. This Lower Cretaceous structure has recoverable resource potential of 200 million barrels.

Hi,

I've recently been in and out here. I was out just before the Total bounce.. typical!

I try to only invest in companies that I can see upside in, which is why I got in here. It seems very unlikely some sort of waiver won't be put in place for Rhum.

I plan to be a long term holder, a toe in the water to start with. It felt good. I want to get in here again!

I appreiate a lot of you are in here for the long term already. And I may sound a bit fly-by-night. I don't mean to. I've been following this company/board for a long time, it's the most sensible Oil/Gas board on here! Which attracted me actually.

Cracking research by steelwatch by the way, I may have to start stalking him on here! ;p

Do I understand correctly that the deadline for a waiver would be the end of September? As most people on here are, I'm very confident something will be put in place by the deadline.

If I can get in under my sell out price before the Total deal was announced I'll be chuffed.. and be in for more.

P.S. I'm a pesimist so apologies in advance!

J
