Took advantage of the pullback to dip a toe in here. Been on my watchlist for a while, but was just waiting the right price.

Agree with mazarin, good results in a struggling economy.

It's a pity that SNR happens to be reporting on a day when the wider market is 'spooked' yet again over Eurozone worries about Greeece and Spain's debt crisis. Even so, today's half yearly results do provide an 'encouraging outlook' with the Company reporting 20% increase in adjusted profit before tax and announcing an increased Interim Dividend (as proposed at 1.38p) as well as also reporting an 18% decrease in net debt.

In my view these have got to be considered very good results in the current grim economic climate?

Yeah moving in the right direction however I wonder if they will be suffering from reduced demand i relation to what Cummins reported earlier this month?

Looking a bit quiet here lately and note a few more 'clicks up' in right direction (£1.80 at present and rising steadily), hopefully a sign of things to come. 6 month's Trading results due 23/07/12

Ok thanks for that. What is the weighting in the business between aerospace and the above? 60 / 40? Looking forward to what the interims say......or not, depending.

Hi rhatton,

this was posted a couple of days ago on "Barrons" website.

"Cummins has turned off the engine.

The engine-maker just lowered its revenue growth expectations to 0% from 10%, acknowledging that a global slowdown is cutting severely into sales. The news was placed at the second half of into a release about how the company is increasing its dividend by 25% to 50 cents. Clearly, the market is less interested in that news. Shares fell 10%.

"We have seen demand in some markets weaken recently as growth in the global economy has slowed," said Chairman and CEO Tom Linebarger. "Order trends in the U.S. for trucks and power generation equipment have softened and demand in Brazil, China and India is not improving as we had previously expected. Our revenues have also been negatively impacted by the appreciation of the U.S. dollar against a number of currencies. We are making adjustments within our business to manage costs, while continuing to fund our critical growth programs and will continue to focus on execution and improving operating margins."

The company said second quarter revenues would likely be around $4.45 billion. Analyst had been expecting $5.07 billion."

The fear contagion at work I'm afraid.

The skies this week seem to be clearing at Farnborough, albeit temporarily and despite the threat of ever more darker clouds on the horizon, the aero industry appears at least for now to be producing some bright glimmers of new, if not totally unexpected, orders for both Boeing and Airbus.

The Farnborough Airshow 2012 starts today and may throughout the next few weeks stimulate order books for Aircraft and likewise draw attention to matters Aeronautical in the International Press. This in turn could easily translate into creating a more 'positive' effect for SNR. I understand that the Exhibition halls are 100 per cent sold, and there has been an unprecedented interest from international businesses, which now account for 55 per cent of the 1,400 exhibitors. There will be country pavilions from the likes of Italy, France, Russia, USA and Mexico all filled with prospective business partners.

I note at this time last year , SNR's share price received a bit of a boost and doubt it was just co-incidence and there's no reason to suppose why this year the same should be any different. Time, of course will tell.

On the same theme: The Times today reports that Boeing anticipates that Air traffic will outstrip world economic growth over the next 20 years, leading to $4.5tn of jetliner orders for 34,000 new aircraft - largely because of a surge in flights around the Pacific.

According to Boeing's annual 20-year market forecast, airline traffic will grow by 5% a year until 2031, with global GDP expected to grow at 3.2% a year., with global GDP expected to grow at 3.2% a year. "By 2031 we believe 50% of all flights in the world will touch Asia Pacific,"

Randy Tinseth, the marketing chief of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, said. "Within that timeframe, the Chinese domestic market will be as big as the North American domestic market,"

Profits ahead of expectations and positive outlook

"As anticipated, overall trading conditions remained positive in both the Aerospace and Flexonics Divisions during the period, with the Group's adjusted profit before tax(1) slightly ahead of the Board's expectations for the first three months of 2012. Net debt at the end of March was at a similar level to that at the start of the year."
