AI Overview Learn more … Hydropower facts and information Hydroelectric dams are very efficient, with the most modern plants converting 90% or more of water energy into electricity. The average efficiency of hydroelectric power systems is 70–90%. AI Overview Learn more … The efficiency of a dam storage power station, or pumped hydro storage plant, depends on several factors, including the round-trip efficiency, the pressure in the reservoir, and the amount of rainfall or river feeding the upper lake: Round-trip efficiency The round-trip efficiency of pumped hydro storage is typically between 65% and 80%. 11/10/2024 07:48 | the good news thou .... share price really has stabilised and have we actually run out of sellers ? the hard part of all this i have about £14k outside ISA but into capital gains tax territory Does RR plan a raid on % ? Does RR change allowance levels ? What date will it apply from do you sell all now without news ? to fix a capital gains tax point ... but at a low level then buy back do you wait until near end of month hoping to get news what i am expecting is turmoil ......... however if you are paying tax at least your a head of the game but is it worth taking punts like some do with the profit going to feed illegal migrants carbon capture and now water storage pumping stations .....acting as a battery build a wind farm for a few 100 million cheap electric spend a few £billion on the energy storage and put it on the bills .... nobody seems to have figured out yet that unit costs of electricity is going to soar ..... with huge pylons running up mountains to carry power in and out .. next time you go and exercise carry 50 litres of water up a hill .... and you will get some sort of idea of the power required to fill a dam assuming rain and evaporation balance out | inanaco

10/10/2024 12:52 | its becoming ingrained ........... One of the UK’s top asset managers has blamed fears of a tax raid in Rachel Reeves’s upcoming Budget for sparking withdrawals of £1.1bn from its funds. Liontrust Asset Management has become the latest company to criticise the Government for knocking investor confidence by raising the prospect of significant tax changes. The business said it had suffered net outflows of more than a billion pounds in the last three months amid growing concerns around the Oct 30 fiscal event. Telegraph again the reason why i am posting this stuff .... its affecting Shares far more than any of the quality discoveries or posts we find good to see a big buy from Ruck 72 | inanaco
10/10/2024 09:16 | Lindy Durrant has said in a couple of interviews that Genmab's development of SC129 (as an ADC I believe) is progressing well and they intend to take it into the clinic next year. AFAIK that has yet to be confirmed by Genmab themselves. | bermudashorts

10/10/2024 05:53 | EE The study also revealed that early treatment with a cancer vaccine blocked tumour progression when immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) therapies did not work. “Our study suggests that the timing of vaccination is important,” said Philip. “A unique feature of our study is that these mice are at high, essentially 100% risk of developing cancers, so the fact that a single immunisation at the right time can give lifelong protection is pretty striking. “There are not many cancer studies where mice have been followed so long after vaccination and remain tumour-free for two years.” “ICB works by taking the brakes off T cells, but if the T cells have never been properly activated, they are like cars without gas, and ICB doesn’t work,” Philip said. “The vaccination boosts the T cells into a functional state so that they can eliminate early cancer cells.” | marcusl2
09/10/2024 08:29 | There was also the huge fortune paid out in furlough payments. Some ordinary people did very well from that, for example working full time for Tesco while collecting 80% of their normal pay from their existing occupation. As far as I can determine, HMRC has done absolutely nothing to recover these payments. | willoicc

09/10/2024 05:20 | missing from Rucks "data" probably another anomaly that should be discarded In 2010, the UK budget deficit was £149 billion, which was 11% of the 2009 GDP. This was a high level by historical standards, and was largely due to the recession. Europe has hissy fits if it goes over 3% still ... I wonder what the cumulative figure would be without cuts ? or if Corbyn had got into power well you now have a Labour Gov ...... going great guns 🤣🤣 | inanaco

09/10/2024 05:08 | "The national debt hit 100pc of GDP in August "Perhaps worth pointing out that when labour took over in July, the National debt was already at 99%When the conservatives took over from Labour in 2010 it was 45% up slightly from the 40% they inherited from the previous conservative government. Not surprisingly, the lowest in modern times was the 35% achieved by the Thatcher government. But to try and imply Labour are responsible for the current 100 is simply grossly misleading. The main reason for such a figure is the Conservative handouts to money grabbing business men during Covid. | ruckrover
09/10/2024 04:53 | Britain’s borrowing costs are now almost double Germany’s as bond investors brace for the Budget and comparatively higher interest rates. The Government has to pay almost 4.2pc to borrow over 10 years, based on bond market rates, compared to Berlin’s 2.2pc. The premium of more than 1.9 percentage points paid by HM Treasury is the biggest gap with Germany in more than a year. It follows a sharp rise in borrowing costs in recent weeks. The yield on 10-year gilts has risen 10pc over the last month. The national debt hit 100pc of GDP in August as the £2.8 trillion mountain of borrowing equalled the nation’s annual economic output for the first time since 1961. telegraph along with the approx 1000 per day boat people arrivals ... all is well with the "change" program successfully Given away the free hold of Chagos Archipelago Fantastic wage rises across the state sector with Gold plated pensions Loads of Freebies .... from our Lords and Masters Trashing the Private school system Impoverishing pensioners Milibrain and his £22billion scheme to fill the north sea with Co2 and also his giant gyroscopes still to come The budget The new deal on employment missing a "growth Strategy" you can track the state of the economy .....
