04/10/2024 17:28 | Loz,Well I must say the nuances of log burning are an absolutely riveting topic. As regards the tenant's responsibilities, maybe I should have read the small print in the tenancy agreement lol. | ruckrover
04/10/2024 16:46 | Loz,I have some real world (as opposed to google) experience of chimneys and logs. I rented a 400 year old cottage and lit a log fire. It caused a raging chimney fire which the fire brigade had to attend. Pity the owners weren't compelled to have the chimney swept. My son in law is a tree surgeon and both uses and sells logs. To burn (legally) they need a water content of less than 20%.It takes 1 to 2 years to reach this depending on tree type, cut, ventilation, stacking method and temperature. I suspect they dry quicker in France due to the higher temperatures. | ruckrover

04/10/2024 16:16 | " winter stunts growth ...so Nothing left" Whatever that means escapes me But,,, winter = the sap leaves the trees Time to harvest some more of our own future fuel ... for FREE Cut to lengths and left-out to dry naturally for at least one summer. For those of us with REAL lives to live... there is never a time when we have ..... "Nothing left" to do. . PS Trees give heat off three times Once when cutting Once when stacking Once when burning . | the real lozan

04/10/2024 15:25 | Sounds like sound business sense rather than bureaucracy to me. The insurer is covering the risk so it makes sense to make sure all risks that can be mitigated are. Benefits both the insurer and the insured. A bit like saying look both ways before crossing the road is "bureaucracy". | ruckrover

04/10/2024 14:33 | MarkingTime - 09 Sep 2024 - 17:39:39 - 12322 of 12881 Scancell - Pot of Gold or POS? - SCLP Quite. Effective cancer vaccines will be like the old days of a gold rush from an investment perspective. The institutions tend to focus on larger cap companies, but in my view they might make just as much actual cash in investment gains by taking 5% here as they would from 0.5% invested in a much larger company. The difficulty will be buying the 5%.....especially if news were to lead hundreds of funds to look for a meaningful stake at the same time. If one was to be bold enough to be 25p bid for as much as they could get this week, that could pay off spectacularly. | inanaco |
