11/12/2007 15:24 | interesting price dip and recovery today. i've seen these type of dips in advance of a price fall in stocks many times. May increase the short position based on today's voliatility. | kristini2
11/12/2007 11:33 | SVS are selling agents not property owners, aren't their sales people on commission so even with a fall in prices and may be a knock on effect on volumes I can't see their profit falling as much as share price slide suggests (60%) divi is more than 2x covered and at this price nearly 6%. On a medium term (1-3 years) they seem a steal, but then what do I know I've been getting it wrong for 3 months. | slogsweep
11/12/2007 10:55 | have to say the time to short was 6 months ago. At some price the likes of SVS will bottom out. Asian and German property (which SVS is also exposed to) still looking good for 2008 IMHO. | dasv
11/12/2007 10:49 | All property sector down today. Beware the property market going into 2008 imo | johnrxx99
11/12/2007 10:40 | anybody else buying at this level? | slogsweep
11/12/2007 10:30 | maybe a mark down inline with broker downgrades on Hammerson, Persimmon? | dasv
11/12/2007 10:23 | True. Got to be something! | mike012321
11/12/2007 10:13 | non rns--maybe a profits warning to follow? | kristini2
11/12/2007 10:13 | Why the drop? Anyone know? Thanks. | mike012321
11/12/2007 10:06 | £4 lol, down 32p today at 10.10am | kristini2
10/12/2007 20:45 | Anyone any news on this. Is SVS ready for the £4 mark ? | the councillor
30/11/2007 11:13 | Fine I will keep the info to myself then. | pictureframe
30/11/2007 10:28 | Stop ramping picture. The bounce is due to the level of fall. | jockthescot
30/11/2007 09:11 | Morning all, Keep watching for the spikes, good news around the corner. | pictureframe
30/11/2007 04:07 | Darias - you said there was not much prospect for capital growth - I don't recall saying you were short. In fact it would have been a fantastic short at a high of 700p+ for a mid-cap company. You think the standard life holding accounts for the Jan overhang? I'm not so sure. Seems like a reasonable point to go long again though, however I am still on the sidelines. | dasv
29/11/2007 15:46 | I just got a call, could be a takeover coming here...spike seems to suggest this. Just bought | pictureframe
27/11/2007 08:10 | So that is where the 20% went. About time we were told! Now is the time to buy as there are no more secrets out there. | darias
26/11/2007 21:18 | Reason for rise. Good to see some serious buying! Savills plc (the "Company") TR 1 Notification of Major Interest in Shares The Company received notice on 26 November 2007 from Standard Life Investments Limited, in fulfilment of the obligations imposed by the Financial Services Authority in accordance with Disclosure and Transparency Rule 5, that it acquired 1,458,832 shares on 23 November 2007. This latest transaction gives a total interest of 22,532,698 ordinary shares representing 17.09% of the issued share capital of the Company. The controlled undertaking through which the voting rights are effectively held is Standard Life Investments Limited. | blondviking
26/11/2007 19:28 | coz they've fallen 60% since the summer?! No seriously - I think there is a recognition that Savills have more strings to their bow than other real estate companies during these troubled times. Then again, it could quite easily drop substantially again tomorrow. | jockthescot
26/11/2007 18:52 | The only share in the real estate sector up today, anybody any ideas why? | ronmikeh
26/11/2007 08:53 | In for a few this am. | rochdae
25/11/2007 18:02 | SVS do not only make a lot from the top end of the housing market, which has been doing well in London, but also land market which is at least 25% up on the year. They are very diverse now with interests in many sectors and have quite an investment in the Far East which is again expanding. The reason that the share price is down is to do with sentiment for the property sector and not to SVS's bottom line. They have a very good business model and will tighten belt quickly if there is likelihood of not meeting targets. I do not see there being a profit warning but I would like to see Director buying at these levels. | blondviking
25/11/2007 16:19 | DTZ potentially a better proposition. | blackdown2
25/11/2007 15:13 | Look on their website and at the percentage of properties sold. To me that side of the business isn't doing to badly. | yewtrees |
