Being No.2 in the UK, it would be very difficult to get any take over of Sainsbury's past the CMA.

Don't see it myself, still a potential takeover target especially at these levels in my view.
Inflation is finally beginning to fall and the yield here remains at around 6%.

Just a red day for the markets generally I think with Ocado, M&S, Tesco and the FTSE also down.

Interesting, Black Rock down by £1.5m on their short position.
I'll add that link to the header.

Yes you are right about the shopping experience and Waitrose products are high quality although pricey, which is ok if you have the money and are not shopping for a family. I guess my point is that a larger proportion of the population will be more focused on prices going forwards due to the cost of living crisis.

Meanwhile looking at the chart the trend could have reversed here? On the comparison chart in the header only Ocado is still heading downwards.

bounty - Many who shop at Waitrose do so because of the far superior shopping experience.

Given the choice both Waitrose and M&S are far more comfortable places to shop.

At the moment I tend to shop at my local Tesco because it is only a 5 min walk from the town centre and on the edge of town and only a 1 1/2 mile drive from home where as except for a large Coop which is in my local high street itself, the other supermarkets are 8 to 15 miles drive and in the middle of no where.

But surely the plan is to build a stronger long term customer base by taking customers from the highly priced Waitrose and M&S chains due to the cost of living crisis. At the same time they have the Aldi price match to dissuade customers from going there. Should pay dividends in the end :)
