Despite Ruffer's claims of being positioned to benefit from rising inflation, they seem to have totally missed the commodity boom of the last few weeks.

It's RICA, yes;

A private company (the investment managers) can't be in an index, nor can a unit trust (or "open-ended fund").

I see Ruffer is entering the 250, would this include this fund and would it imply any upside?
asking those who know far more about it than me. TIA.

...I don't notice CGT being "up" today.

In fact, PNL was up today! :-)

Does anyone know why PNL and RICA were down today, while CGT was up? I think they have similar downside protection of bonds and a little gold. RICA also has options to insure against crashes. So how come CGT did better?

Disappointing to see the beta today in an environment that Ruffer are well prepared for. Probably/hopefully just the premium cooling off.

These guys have the additional string to their bow that PNL and CGT don't have. Their options/swaptions cover the current problem in the market where inflation linked bonds and regular bonds are falling in tandem because currently the market believes that central banks will get inflation under control.

Doing well at the moment. Think the inflation protection is paying dividends at the moment. Held for a long time now and very happy to keep doing so.

Can someone point me to their capital structure? I note preference shares are the ones I can find for sale…

How is their common stock placed?

One to hold management accountable for......an increase in the size of the Company, thereby spreading operating costs, other than management fees which are charged by reference to the Net Asset Value, over a larger capital base which should reduce the ongoing charges ratio

Ruffer themselves admit they are like a tractor driving through treacle in a bull market, slow and steady. What's brilliant is the downside protection and low volatility, look at the drawdowns!

pvb - quite so. This isn't a trader's share. Commenting on short term movements here is just daft.

They explain in great detail what their strategy is. If you disagree with that, or their execution of it, you can just sell.

NAV taken a battering again. Despite all their clever hedges dies this actually protect much?

I'd say Yes. But not on an hour by hour, day by day basis! (Or even weekly...)

This nearly always trades on a premium and 2% is at the low end!
