Interesting post thanks. How long can that last? That's the million dollar question. Or I suppose what's made it last so predictably thus far and has that changed? I am starting to feel that a bet that there will be a reasonable reset looks appealing. A bet that it can continue ad infinitum looks less appealing. Atb

With QT replacing QE, it feels like a fairly major rerate of equity markets is becoming more likely. Personally adding to a good holding in this relatively safe haven, that at times of adversity can make a reasonable appreciation.

For those uncomfortable with their strategy, it's explained clearly here:

Personally I think 190% since 2004 without dividends reinvested and minimal drawdown ain't to bad.

So this falls with the market and fails to participate with the rallies. Wealth preservation?

They try to be too clever, hedging the hedges etc. Just chips away at the nav

Up 1pc this morning but not happy with current performance. PNL and CGT doing much better at wealth preservation at the mo.

RICA was down 2.46% yesterday. That's huge for a capital preservation manager. I wonder which part of the portfolio fell so much?

Yup. Frustrating performance over the last 2 months given the market stresses that RICA aims to insulate against. Since its recent high, RICA is approx -5.5% versus the FTSE all share approx -1.5%.

Wealth preservation or wealth destruction?!

It's a bit worse than it looks: last month they took cash at 296.5 when the prevailing NAV was 291. So that should have raised NAV a bit.

It's possible that their hedging doesn't operate in ral time, but the market prices they're hedging against do.

barbello - good point - they can't issue more stock on tap for a while either.

I wonder if the smallish take up in tricky markets means that it can regain a bit more premium with less stock about and future buyers having to top up instead in the market. It's all pretty marginal but just curious to see what happens
