03/1/2019 10:03 | if it is invested 50% in equities not sure why anyone believes this could be immune from market falls. | edwardt
27/12/2018 10:50 | Another down nav in falling markets! I think the door to the headmasters study will be very busy, time for JR to get this bunch in order. Suspect too many long timers who got it right once and are getting fat off that. Time for some new blood ! | slicethepie
24/12/2018 11:13 | Today's announcement ...Not sure where this idea was on the list of how to improve performance! I wonder if our current bear market is 'the wrong kind of snow' as we approach a 24 month price low. Really sad to be able to utilise a loss for tax purposes on a fund that sells itself on capital protection. | slicethepie
18/12/2018 13:46 | I think a lot has changed since Jonathan stepped back. There recent behaviour with byot is a great example, funds like Ruffer were always long term supportive shareholders and would not dump shares without consulting management about an orderly exit. I have recommended Ruffer to many friends primarily for there capital protective approach but also because I believed they had a high moral code. I am now wondering if this is not the company it was. | slicethepie
11/12/2018 09:29 | the linkers do well when sterling falls. if this goes to a 6% discount i will buy some. don't think it will be too far away. | edwardt
10/12/2018 21:08 | Agree with previous posts. I hold, but can see myself selling, unlike other funds in same category. The fees are too high. I'm happy with higher fees, if the performance backs them up. Here it doesn't. I keep asking myself why there are 3 fund managers. I dont like tne idea of paying for 3 people to do the job of 1(as many funds get by with). Clearly there's not much value being delivered to shareholders for the extra expense. I don't like their use of Ruffer sub funds, which I suspect levy hidden fees thats visible in performance. Eg Ruffer Gold Fund - why not just buy gold and a miner or two. In their defence, I do like what they have to say. Ruffers reports and video of one of tne managers. But they do need to deliver on their capital protection. I'm curious to see how their nav reacts, though not hopeful as they have a high sterling weighting | 0x3f
10/12/2018 18:40 | Yes, not good, Johnathan needs to take a grip on this, turn his full attention to it, not good not good: A statement at least would be a courtesy to loyal long standing shareholders, years of credibility can be lost in a blink. | elmfield
10/12/2018 17:44 | 3.6 mil traded and most were small sales and the MM's doubled the spread by eod. I guess a lot of P.I's read the gloom and capitulated today. Holding but unimpressed so far. | getscenic
10/12/2018 17:14 | Their monthly report, delivered last Friday, is gloomy, but doesn't look a catalyst: | jonwig
10/12/2018 16:58 | Agreed, my AIM stocks are doing better than this, any clue on the drop of 3.85%? the all share only lost 1% today | getscenic
10/12/2018 14:47 | This is not doing very well at what I thought it was meant to do? Protect my capital.😡 | elmfield
13/11/2018 21:23 | Capital protection in action (not) | getscenic
13/11/2018 10:45 | Ruffer selling down Byotrol at what must be a significant loss - Not good news for either (imo) | pugugly
12/9/2018 22:35 | Hello! Where's the chart gone now? - It's back! :-) | pvb
20/7/2018 12:38 | +3p this morning is a bit of a push up for RICA of late. If it sticks it is the biggest daily gain since Feb 6th. Not sure why. | lambeater
12/4/2018 09:03 | Just bought this morning after reading the March factsheet. Part of defensive strategy. | jonwig
27/3/2018 21:15 | I don't think this is a shoot the lights out high growth security! They have a modest return target. | pvb
14/3/2018 13:23 | yes I bought in Nov last year, not an insignificant amount unfortunately at exactly 230, and getting on for a year and a half later I have Zero fekin growth, just my luck I have to say, thought it was a sensible steady but sure play, dint expect fireworks but Christ if inflation is 5% I'm into a decent loss here. | stevieweebie2
13/3/2018 20:22 | Would be nice to see the same effort put into fund performance as issuing shares! | slicethepie
12/2/2018 18:45 | Did o.k last week. | elmfield
22/1/2018 13:37 | Non exec director purchase. 10000 shares.Nice to see but not earth shattering, let's hope he's adequately rewarded. | stevieweebie2
12/1/2018 12:56 | my mistake fact sheet is very misleading. total cost on kid basis more accurate but still high in my opinion as it includes management fee and i would be surpised as a closed ended company dealing an stamp duty and costs of board etc are only 50bps. | edwardt
11/1/2018 20:58 | So they read these threads? | elmfield |
