01/12/2014 17:21 | It would have been nicer to pick them up on the dip to 575 but it could just as easily have gone the other way. In the long run, with the opportunity to take up all my Rights at 320, I'll be happy enough. | jeffian
01/12/2014 17:05 | Luck with those guys. | philanderer
01/12/2014 10:38 | Jeffian Agreed-I bought in today for the first time after a long watch Margins in the target are lower than the group so a nice task for them to get stuck into too | nfs
01/12/2014 10:16 | I first bought RPC at the end of 1999, took up the Rights in 2011 and have added on several occasions as it is one of the few shares which, whilst performing well over the long term, has remained relatively cheap on fundamentals. I think the acquisition of Promens and the associated Rights Issue present a real buying opportunity and I took the opportunity to invest again this morning whilst the market is down, with a view to taking up all the Rights on both existing and new shares. Recent market weakness is being linked to the falling oil price - with oils being a significant part of the FTSE of course - but surely in the longer term cheap oil will be beneficial to economies and growth? RPC's cost base is also linked to the price of oil (albeit subject to price adjustments in both directions to their customers) and cheaper input costs can only be beneficial to them. It may be that I could have bought cheaper in the days to come, but I feel confident that this is a real long-term opportunity. | jeffian

27/11/2014 20:08 | Investors Chronicle: IC TIP UPDATES: Plastics specialist RPC (RPC) has announced the acquisition of European plastics business Promens for €386m alongside strong half year results which showed a 12 per cent rise in revenues and adjusted profits up almost one third to £54.9. The acquisition is being part funded by a £200m rights issue. We keep our buy recommendation. | philanderer
27/11/2014 09:49 | Yes, that's a win/win. Good results plus the opportunity to buy more at 320p! Funnily enough, I've been on the verge of buying more for some time - one of my few shares which is still on a sensible PER/yield - and kicked myself for not diving in when they went down to 500 recently, but now I can have 'em for 320. I, too, will be taking up my Rights. | jeffian
27/11/2014 09:37 | And the acquisition / rights issue :-) Panmure rec 'under review' | philanderer
27/11/2014 08:28 | In one word ... solid :-) Pleased with those numbers. | philanderer |
