17/7/2012 17:02 | jeffian sorry to hear you lost out on timing. I can see that taking profits can never be an exact science. I am not trading in vast sums of money - but I have already seen a reasonable paper profit on one stock disappear overnight. I guess a lot of this is down to experience. A 10p divi early Aug will keep me in this for a while. Thanks for the hints. | uxb_steve
17/7/2012 16:53 | As a man who sat and watched a fortune slip through his fingers 2008 to date, I wouldn't take advice from me! Knowing when to sell is indeed the hardest part of the game IMHO. Nobody ever got poor taking profits, so whilst it may gall you to see something you've sold continue upwards, don't worry about "selling too soon". It's a lot better than selling too late! My view on RPC is that with forecast earnings of 41p this year and 44p next (source: Yahoo average analysts' estimates) on a sub-10x P/E ratio this remains cheap for a growth company despite being at new 'highs'. I tend to be a buy-and-hold merchant so it's no good asking me when to sell, I'm afraid. | jeffian
17/7/2012 16:10 | jeffian No problem! I am fairly new to this game and seem to discover new ways to err every day. Most frustrating so far is when to sell when the share price is actually rising. I seem to sell too soon much of the time. Any words of wisdom? | uxb_steve
17/7/2012 12:04 | Sorry, it was meant to be funny. But you're right about the second bit. | jeffian
17/7/2012 11:56 | Jeffian - your sarcasm has been honed to perfection. You must have been trading too long. | uxb_steve

14/6/2012 14:13 | Tomorrows IC reviews results and notes current polymer futures contracts point towards prices falling in June and July........... ends Tip Update: RPC is operating in difficult markets and the weakness of the euro isn't helping. But the shares have outperformed during a period in which a significant acquisition was integrated, polymer prices rose 20% in the fourth quarter, and core markets in Europe weakened significantly. These are impressive results given the backdrop and we retain our BUY recommendation. | wynmck
