Another good insight, thank you.

The story is starting to unfold, and it looks good for
the RM. As I said yesterday if they can get the unions on side
without much financial pain, we could see a serious re-rating here,
north of 200p.

It's probably me I've been ordering so much the postie empties one bag just for my property lol. If I can't get it on Amazon I get it on Ebay. Same my daughter runs an online business so sends out through the post office and receives all of the materials she needs through the post office. People at home quite a few need hard copies of financial and legal documents as well as PDFs (via email) so that all comes through the post. It's a necessity for people that work from home and in our household three of us work full time from home due to this lock down. Multiply that out to the whole of the UK that's a lot of deliveries in my book.

Another thing it's dangerous going into shops now as our area is a hot spot for Covid-19 two people I know are dead several others infected, so it's a right pain going out I have to put on my respirator, put on my surgical gloves, bleach the door handles, bleach the carrier bags. When I get back bleach the soles of my shoes. I have to make sure I've got sanitiser in my pocket. It's just too much planning. So online is better.

Thank you nothing better than on the ground research and data,
I continue to buy small lots as I feel they will use the c19
to turn things around hopefully.

Just an anecdotal point. I wandered down to the local PO (in a newsagents') to post a box of goodies to my daughter for her birthday - of course we cannot travel to see her.

I arrived at 13:50 to see a note that the counter was closed from 1pm until 2pm for lunch. 'OK!' I thought, and wandered off around the town for 10 minutes. As I did so the RM collection person came out of the building with about 10 sacks full of parcels. A chap came along with 2 more sacks and then the Post Box was emptied and visibly had dozens and dozens of letters and packets. Just Monday morning.

I got back in time for the re-opening and there was 10 person queue waiting outside doing the distancing thing, all with parcels to post.

Another daughter is working in a local Co-Op that has a Hermes service point. There are there dozens of packets and so on to be collected by Hermes. Apparently 2 individuals come in every day with parcels to send.

All this in a small local town (pop about 9000). RM and parcels business is (still) very busy!

BlueLynx, thank you. One thing that will benefit RMG is the current low oil price. RMG being it's own principle business will get the benefit, whereas those transport companies contracted to others usually have a contract that includes compensation for fuel price movements. Knowing what lawyers are like the chances are, that for those contractors much of the lower fuel price benefits will go to their customer.

I'm expecting there to be many bankruptcies of smaller haulage companies as we come out of this shutdown. That might provide opportunities for RMG to pick up extra work, although I wouldn't hold my breath.

Morning all, just a few hours out from my Friday call, looking
very good here, if they are getting a good slice of the online
delivery they are made for the future. Restructure slightly but
please the unions and workforce and we could be set this year.

Creditrunchies, the tragedy is that RMG could swiftly be highly profitable if only it were allowed to operate like a commercial business. Dump having to carry other peoples mail at a loss, and stop everyday deliveries to remote rural places. It's one company that actually has a valid claim for government compensation since it's so hamstrung by government edicts.

The Parcel Force side unhampered by Gov edicts is highly efficient, it's the hamstrung mail side that struggles. Having seen the inside of so much of the mail/parcel industry I do know that RMG provide a far higher quality of service than any of the others. It could be very profitable if only freed from Gov impositions, and a bit of tinkering with some of the detail. Perhaps once the country is free from the control of Brussels office clerks, RMG might be able to drop carrying Dutch and German competitors mail at a loss, incidentally both countries who only permit THEIR NATIONALS to carry mail. RMG can't go to Germany or Holland and operate a mail business, they have tried to!

One can see from how Parcel Force operates that there are at least a few switched on people in the depths of RMG, but they must fight an uphill struggle everyday, with the civil service 'jobsworth' types in there.

The markets have to play the mind game to ensure the private investor
is kept away so they just go to work. I increased in my gvc, hgm and ggp
at the drop a few times, but also scatter a bit at the smaller companies
that might do well in the future a couple little pharma's, tech and the like.

I feel the US will continue the move up as will gold.

yes I know...the drops are scary as they muck about with your psyche. as soon as theres a blue day you feel so much better...incidentally I was expecting blue today and RMG are the only ones that are!!!...so much for being positive on the dows close on Friday.

I have been involved in this game since 1986, so have had a few good and
bad times. When you say you were scared by the drop, that is exactly the
time to increase in good companies, difficult to do I admit but that is
the stock market. I too have traded here but hold a few for the return
and I feel it will.
