22/5/2019 17:18 | Amazing loss of productivity over last five years after a shedload of capex in UKPIL Is £500million incremental capex over next five years enough to fund parcel automation? Could be an opening gambit. Given lack of sustained productivity over last five years, can the incremental capex into parcels over next five years make sustained margins. or will people costs muck things up again? Got to be difficult winding down letter volumes ( capex impairments) and changing workforce over to a renewed focus on parcels. I suspect the company will muddle through. Will be interesting. | muffinhead
22/5/2019 14:41 | From Rico in webcast.... Royal Mail has to change from a letters business that delivers parcels to a parcel business that delivers letters! capex is going to double from current level to modernise parcel sorting from current level of 12% automation letters sorting automation already 90% automated I assume the money is going to come from debt with a bond issue or preferance shares. Raising equity though a rights issue has political risk. Corbyn or any other politician is unlikely to default on the credit market or the government credit rating will be trashed. So balance sheet needs to be monitored | muffinhead
22/5/2019 14:28 | "dividend will be paid to shareholders on 4 September 2019 subject to approval at the AGM to be held on 18 July 2019" | muffinhead
22/5/2019 13:14 | Maybe but you could say that about any share that pays a divi. They usually come back after a couple of weeks | encarter
22/5/2019 12:39 | 14% return yes but when the shares go XD they will probably fall by more than the divi paid at the time. | hermanngoring
22/5/2019 12:27 | No it's not too late it's just the beginning.17p divi still to come then 15p next year makes 32p or 14% return in just over 1 year. | encarter

22/5/2019 10:59 | 15 pence at current share price gives a decent yield still best to wait for a consensus of brokers than one putting a finger in the air saying target 110p | creditcrunchies
22/5/2019 10:47 | When is xd date? Suggested 25 July a way back. Not confirmed today | linhur
22/5/2019 10:32 | I'm in both. Both cut divi but if you examine results they are totally different, although both will be double in 2 years imho. RMG results had one offs of 64m insurance buy in, 68m impairment, 70m back pay and 47m extra week's pay. So about 250m one off costs that won't be on next year's results. | encarter
22/5/2019 09:45 | Interesting market reaction compared to vod both lumbering utilities both cut their divis by a similar amount but vod got hammered while it's sunshine here. Not in either myself but have to say that I am more tempted by vod given it's international footprint and potential for higher income from 5g | salpara111
22/5/2019 09:27 | overvalued say brokers Sell to 120p | hermanngoring
