I told you all 330p was too high.

CEO bought stock in desperation.

Huge downside.

Sanks..updating level 4

""Hedge funds have doubled their bets against Royal Mail in just over a month as the City worries about the fate of its dividend.
Short-sellers have built up a £180m short position, predicting that the embattled parcel deliverer’s shares will suffer another plunge. Analysts have warned that shareholder payouts hang in the balance after a shock profit warning in October. Royal Mail’s share price has since collapsed below its float price, hitting a record low last Friday.""

Now a SOR situation and surely the share price is saying that there will be a dividend cut . I must check to see if dividend comfortably covered by earnings !

The business they are in is a very simple one. Some parts of it work quite well but others are prone to the typical British management technique of failing to get their hands dirty at the sharp end, and thus failing to apply attention to detail.

My favourite incident from doing work for them was the repeated issuing of an inaccurate map that led to having to spend two days and £44,000 craning an articulated lorry from where it had become wedged. They continued to issue the same highly misleading map, but solved the problem by sacking the driver! That mind-set runs right through RMG like letters in a piece of Blackpool rock!

A few simple things at the operational level would make useful savings, but the top down, internal civil service type culture, will screw it up.

Think most of the problems are linked to his predecessor. Way too soon to assess the present man. This job is like turning round an ocean liner..better not say Titanic.

The new CEO has done a wonderful job on shareholder value.

The Guardian July 2018...

"The postal service, privatised in a much-criticised process that began in 2013, handed Rico Back an annual deal worth up to £2.7m if he hits bonus targets, on top of a £6m “golden hello” for leaving the company’s European subsidiary."

How much longer can he survive ?
