28/2/2020 10:57 | Pope Francis 'sick' a day after meeting masked Ash Wednesday audience Vatican said 83-year-old pontiff had 'slight indisposition' and would not be attending Mass in Rome Vatican officials have refused to comment on whether Pope Francis has been tested for coronavirus, confirming only that the pontiff skipped a planned Mass for the start of Lent due to a slight illness. This morning the pontiff did not go to St. John Lateran basilica for the Penitential Mass with Roman clergy, Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni said in a statement given to the Telegraph. Due to a light indisposition he preferred to stay near [his Vatican residence] Santa Marta. Other duties are proceeding regularly. Mr Bruni declined to respond to the question of whether or not the pontiff had been or will be tested for coronavirus, which has infected 650 people in Italy and caused disruption across the north of the country. Concern over the Pope's well-being circulated on social media after he was seen coughing and blowing his nose during Ash Wednesday celebrations, in which he greeted people without a mask. | stonedyou

28/2/2020 09:56 | The annual mortality in the UK, by dint of: old age, terminal illness, accident or design, is circa 600,000. So far as I am aware no-one in the UK has yet died from coronavirus. | leedskier
28/2/2020 09:41 | 154431 - this is in part why this virus is becoming farcical, admittedly for third world countries with no healthcare system, Africa in particular, it is far reaching, but not as severe as Ebola. Nonetheless this article about holiday makers in Tenerife, it is no different to those bus drivers taking returning folk to the Wirral, seems so long ago, with no face masks or anything, bloke behind escorting in full Hasmat suit - just beyond ridiculous! | bookbroker
28/2/2020 09:20 | I thinks its both - The implications combined could have a massive effect globally - Thats even before this bull market was ending - | tomboyb
28/2/2020 09:13 | It is not fears of coronavirus in the UK/Europe or the USA, which is causing RBS to fall, but rather fears about the impact on the global supply chain and travel industry affecting the global economy, leading to a global recession. | leedskier

28/2/2020 08:19 | TradeJunkie227 Definitely agree. Think its probably time to buy now, to sell later in the year. you never know quite where the bottom is but this corona virus is only a flu after all for a couple of weeks. The news last night reported that they where not going to shut any airports down at all as historic events have proven that it doesn't make a difference in the end, says it all that doesn't it, does that sound like the scary thing there making it out to be by cross referencing it to the Black Death (you have to laugh at that news comment) plus the mortality rate at the epicentre is 2% and this gets less the further afield it goes from patient zero. 98% of people are recovering, so if your frail stay indoors else you may get a cold or flu like you would normally at this time of year. Does that really sound like the maths to wipe out 3 years of gains on the FTSE. this is so over played, its probably the big boys in cahoots just getting together and saying hey we will use this to short all the stocks. How many banks have been picked up on collaborating to fix prices, and the fines are never bigger than there rewards so its never going to stop them. Buying opportunity now for this year, fill your boots. Medical News Today Among humans, coronavirus infections most often occur during the winter months and early spring. People regularly become ill with a cold due to a coronavirus and may catch the same one about 4 months later. This is because coronavirus antibodies do not last for a long time. Also, the antibodies for one strain of coronavirus may be ineffective against another one. Symptoms Cold- or flu-like symptoms usually set in from 2–4 days after a coronavirus infection and are typically mild. However, symptoms vary from person-to-person, and some forms of the virus can be fatal. Symptoms include: sneezing runny nose fatigue cough fever in rare cases sore throat exacerbated asthma The above is what the News is scaring the World to Death with. | delphiman

27/2/2020 19:26 | Better off if the Govt. found a willing buyer at a considerably higher price, do we need all these major banks in this modern age and the so-called challenger banks, could mergers be back on the table now that they are considerably more regulated! | bookbroker
27/2/2020 15:10 | I do wonder whether HMG is considering selling down its holding. There is some pressure on the Treasury to raise funds for Boris's infrastructure spending. It would certainly explain why the share price is so cheap. | leedskier
27/2/2020 14:45 | Wow now making references to black death, that's actually funny, as when you got the plague back then you almost certainly died, with this you almost certainly Live. | delphiman
27/2/2020 14:43 | Do we all remember the scare over HIV, by the year 2000 one in three of us where supposed to infected. Did it happen! Its ok NHS England saying don't over react when the news papers want to over react so they can sell there stories. I said to my partner the other day, do you contemplate not going to a place because when you get there someone there may have flu, she said no. I said why should this be any different, its like a strong flu, I said are you of ill health she said no, so I rest my case. one woman who husband on the TV to had caught it said it was like a mild case of the flu for him, Over reaction totally about this. | delphiman |
