The question is what now for UK politics?

Before rushing to yet another general election, it maybe time to consider whether the first past the post electoral system best serves society,

Each of the two large political parties are coalitions of a wide range of views. During the period between 1979 and 2010, these coalitions, though occasionally tested, held together, providing strong government.

However it now appears that it is not so much whether one is politically on the left or right which divides, but whether one supports Brexit or Remain which is all important.

In Tudor times it was whether one was protestant or catholic, in Cromwell's time whether one was a royalist or parliamentarian. So there is nothing novel in a single but constitutionally important issue dividing the nation and its politics.

I would vote for May's deal and just get it done and then let business get on with business!

That is an easy one. As the £ plummets the value of the $ earners rise. UK banks take the pain.

The final paragraph ...

19. However, the legal risk remains unchanged that if through no such demonstrable failure of either party, but simply because of intractable differences, that situation does arise, the United Kingdom would have, at least while the fundamental circumstances remained the same, no internationally lawful means of exiting the Protocol’s arrangements, save by agreement.

Cox's advice includes

7. In my view, these provisions of the Joint Instrument extend beyond mere interpretation of the Withdrawal Agreement and represent materially new legal obligations and commitments, which amplify its existing terms and make time of the essence in replacing the backstop. Therefore, provided the United Kingdom can clearly demonstrate in practice that it is effectively organised and prepared to maintain the urgent pace of negotiations that they imply, the EU could not fail to match it without being at risk of breaching the best endeavours obligation.
