Here's my expectation of the days programme.

Gradual grind back up on FTSE and banks [seesaw effect, up a few pence then back down 2, then up again etc] with an occasional slap back down to reset the bots.

At lunchtime it will going into a panic about DOW futures regardless of what they are. The the DOW opens and immediately falls = UK banks and FTSE stumple over again and move sideways until FTSE closes at which time DOW moves back up.

Hope I'm wrong and markets power ahead but the cynic in me is right a lot more times than the optimist.

Cityam reported pre market that the price war is still hitting UK supermarkets. No surprise that they are front and centre of this stock market price discounting war this morning. We are now firmly in the holiday season and trading is bound to be thin.

They may be correct but it was no secret the Government were looking to sell RBS and other stocks so really a waste of time.

All in the Public domain.

RBS sell-off: Hedge funds investigated for making millions 'at taxpayer's expense'

Britain’s financial watchdog is looking into claims that hedge funds made millions of pounds at the taxpayer’s expense by using inside information to short-sell shares in Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS).

An analysis of RBS share trading reveals there was a sharp rise in the number of shares being shorted – a technique that involves borrowing a stock and then betting it will fall in value – between the bank’s interim results last Thursday and the Government’s £2.1bn share sale on Monday night.

It's probably the women wearing flip flops around the office. Personally, I find women in flip flops attractive as long as they take care of their feet.

Australia's opening batsmen put up some resistance helped by a lot of luck, but they are now 136 for 3. They need 332 just to prevent England winning with an innings to spare.
