So will the FTSE100 traders rejoice in the UK's growth or remain focused on the US Federal Bank meeting?

UK GDP per head back at pre-crisis peak

Now this is significant. Britain’s economic output, per person, has finally reached its level achieved before the crisis.

The ONS says that:

The 0.7% increase in GDP growth in Quarter 2 (Apr to June) 2015 implies that GDP per head would be broadly equal to the pre-economic downturn peak in Quarter 1 (Jan to Mar) 2008.

European shares up, RSA and Melrose surge on M&A news
LONDON, JULY 28
European shares bounced in early trading on Tuesday after falling in the previous five sessions, with some strong company results and mergers and acquisitions news supporting the market.

RSA Insurance Group surged 12.9 percent after Zurich Insurance said it was weighing up a bid for the British group with a market capitalization of 4.4 billion pounds ($6.85 billion).

Engineering turnaround specialist Melrose jumped 15 percent after saying it would sell its Elster business to Honeywell International for 3.3 billion pounds ($5.14 billion) in cash..

Shares in Kering rose 5.6 percent, after Gucci, the flagship brand of the French luxury and sportswear group, posted a 4.6 percent rise in underlying second-quarter sales, marking a much sooner than expected rebound under its new creative and management duo.

The FTSEurofirst 300 index of top European shares was 0.4 percent higher at 1,536.12 points by 0712 GMT after hitting a two-week low in the previous session. (Reporting by Atul Prakash; Editing by Catherine Evans)

Did you look at the 2016/17 figures, max?

So where can you beat that compound growth?

Maths still ain't your forte max.

Some one-sided talk in the summer-doldrums.

U.S. interest rates up yet economicweakness everywhere else - no interconnect there (as if)

Shiller P/E still given credibility - a decent statistician would laugh at it given the (previous) unprecedented losses that skews it.

I can see why markets get it wrong so often.

Both the £ & € are rising against the $, so it is not a rising currency which is causing weakness. So not only commodities which have disconnected fron the $ but equity markets too.

It is said that we have to be careful what we wish for, but I really hope that the FED makes it clear that there will be a rate rise in September then we can stop these games.

I'm not sure it is that 'unseasonal'; it seems to have always been like this, as far as I can remember.
