11/9/2008 09:40 | Likewise. Great company, very solid management. | wjccghcc
11/9/2008 08:50 | Been buying a few of these over the last few days. Intersting that you can buy share that historically has been trading on a P/E of over 20 for a forward P/E of 14 now. A nice 30% discount. :O) Lots of stuff happening in H2 08 and all divisions blazing ( all reporting double digit growth ) as are the subsidiaries ( 2/3ds reporting 20%+ growth ). Breaking into the Chinese water/ waste water sector too. Will add more sub 900p if we see it. | liarspoker
10/8/2008 09:50 | good article In the meantime, certain companies continue to defy the prevailing mood of doom and gloom. One such business is Rotork, founded 50 years ago by Jeremy Fry, an engineering boffin and scion of the Fry's Turkish Delight family. Fry invented the actuator, a widget that makes the valves turn on large pipes. He then set up a business Rotork and ran it from a country house in Bath. The company is still headquartered in the town but has since spread its wings and now operates from around the globe. It has also surged in value and is valued at nearly £1bn. The group has consistently delivered on its promises over the years and enjoys immense respect in the City. Supporters point out that if investors had put £100 into Rotork on the day former chief executive Bill Whiteley took over in 1996, it would now be worth nearly £1000. Over the same period, the same investment in a tracker fund would be worth around £230. Whiteley recently retired and has been succeeded by former chief operating officer Peter France, who has been with Rotork for 20 years and knows the business inside out. The company is storming ahead, thanks to its involvement in fast-growing sectors such as oil and gas, power and water. In China, for example, hundreds ofms of pounds are being spent upgrading water pipes across the country and all of these need actuators. Closer to home, the UK water companies are under regulatory pressure to modernise their pipes and invariably use Rotork actuators in the process. Power plants across the globe use these widgets too and huge pipelines in places as far-flung as Bolivia and Bahrain or Northern Ireland and Namibia. The company is a market leader and it is expected to remain so for some time to come. Actuators are an essential component of pipe networks and they have to be 100 per cent reliable. Rotork has built its reputation over decades and its customers are happy to stick with the company. Interim results due out in early August should show good growth and analysts are forecasting full year profits for 2008 of more than £69m, an increase of 21 per cent over last year. The dividend is expected to increase too, from 21.7p in 2007 to over 25p this year. Midas verdict: At 1112p, Rotork shares are not cheap and they have held up well during the market turmoil. But this is a well-run, highly-focused company that should exhibit strong growth over the next few years. Buy and hold | thebteam
17/6/2008 21:47 | Finally broken the £12 barrier :-) I'm patting myself on the back as I predicted £12 in March. At this rate, it will only be a few more years before they enter the FTSE100. Of course I expect it will go sub £12 tomorrow, but I'm in for the long haul on this one. B. | princessbouncy

12/6/2008 16:07 | Rotork Plc. said it expects good levels of growth for both the first half and the full year, adding first-quarter order intake rose 25 percent from the same period of last year. At the end of March, the engineering group said its order book rose to 125 million pounds, up 28 percent from Dec. 31 2007. Revenue denominated in euros represents around 30 percent of the total and this could potentially represent significant upside opportunity to the company in the current year, it added. | nephie
02/5/2008 16:38 | Nice update today | thebteam
29/4/2008 08:12 | It depends on the rest of the market of course, if that tanks Rotork will come down like everything else. I'll buy some then. ;o) Superb company but I am not prepared to pay todays price for it. | liarspoker
03/3/2008 16:08 | What a magnificent set of results. They seem to be capable of sustaining 20% year on year for the forseeable future too. Without using a calculator I see the fundies as: P/E - About 20 Debt - Negative Dividend excluding the special one - About 3% With the price floating around the £10.00 mark, I see the valuation on the low side of fair. If they sustain the growth rate, I'd expect to see them over £12 at some stage this year. It depends on the rest of the market of course, if that tanks Rotork will come down like everything else. Regards, B. | princessbouncy

21/11/2007 20:19 | I find Rotork a very relaxing company to own shares in. Normally I'd buy on the dips, but as my largest holding, I really can't justify buying anymore at this time. B. | princessbouncy
21/11/2007 10:26 | Cracking statement imo: Rotork PLC 21 November 2007 21 November 2007 Rotork p.l.c. Trading Update Third quarter order input continued its upward trend and was 18% above the prior year's third quarter input and 5% above the second quarter input. The order book at the end of September stood at £102 million which is 9% up on the half year and 35% up on the start of the year. We anticipate that the full year results will be modestly ahead of our previous expectations despite the impact of the continuing weakness of the US Dollar. Our markets, which relate to the energy and water sectors, remain buoyant and this gives the Board confidence in the Group's prospects. - Ends - | henryatkin
21/11/2007 08:02 | should be a trading update today. Waiting to see the US effect.....if any | henryatkin
17/10/2007 12:14 | thebteam, quality management, quality company but cambium may have a point so be careful. I hold this along with SFR and CHTR, the latter about to breakout again. | sven2006
16/10/2007 20:47 | Is this still worth buying at this price? | thebteam
12/10/2007 10:19 | The order book is heavily weighted to the sell side at £11, We need to wait until the seller is cleared before moving on. Could be a day, week or month, but it'll come imo | cambium
12/10/2007 10:04 | I know someone who works for this company. All divisions are worked up and the orders just keep coming. The italian aquisition was a steal. Its doubtful they will dissapoint anytime soon.I just wonder if they reach capacity will they still be able to grow? Maybe some more aquisitions on the cards. | antonio palocci
12/10/2007 09:52 | Cambium, what do you reckon on next week with this one | sven2006
