Manchester did not work out as expected and whilst time was lost, they did not lose money.
I bought in during covid as it is conservatively managed, with sound finances and a number of small but decent acquisitions. The dividend represents the management's genuine intention imv, so I'm happy to be aboard.

Dosser50 - Because Rotala were waiting for Andy Burnham to announce the winners of the first tranche of franchises in Manchester first, before they could release their RNS. The Manchester announcement was meant to have been Fri 16th Dec, but there was a weeks delay for some reason.

Andydaf - Rotala have picked up extra work in the Midlands from 1/1/23 & rationalised some competing commercial services between themselves & NXWM. I agree the loss of Bolton depot reads much better than I was expecting, as does the reduction in group revenues with the 7 small franchies in Manchester they have won + extra WM work. If the Government do pull the BRG support from 31/3/23, NXWM are threathening to reduce their mileage by another 8% which is circa 100 buses worth of work, there may be more opportunities for Rotala in the WM if that happens.

DBNW are also building a new larger purpose-built depot to replace the current Eccles depot & operate the new smaller franchises from:

lots of moving parts in the business but the reduction in debt and increase in passengers are welcome, have to hope they're successful in some of their other franchise bids. Can offload the older bus fleet while purchasing new vehicles.

Midland classics is a good operation and comes at a reasonable price.I see plenty of other regional operations in trouble such as the demise of yellow buses in bournemouth and other sizeable operations weakoned by covid and the slower than expected return to passenger numbers becoming available to Rotala.Long term bus operations should be a growth business so as management have said this could be an opportunity to grow the business into a sizeable player.Management here are bus men first and foremost and i believe that puts us at a great advantage over other companies run by accountants. As always GLA
