28/5/2023 17:44 | This 10% is the same ploy that Jack Welsh used to impose on GE.It was found not to work too well in the end. Enron did this too. It comes from the Roman army which in its early days had fights to the death to lose the worst/weakest 10% each year. It was called DECIMATE but this too ended. McKinsey are just charging a fortune for an old idea which has been shown to fail. | vikingwarrier

28/5/2023 17:41 | The report as posted by freddie01 implies to me that it's clerical staff that are likely to receive redundancy. If the three operating divisions do not share a common admin. structure then what the hell as Tufan been doing since his arrival? I appreciate the point made by Vikingwarrier: Brit. Aerospace (where my wife worked) operated on a similar principle. However, they also had no end of staff who's job appeared to be to walk about with a clipboard. I suspect RR is the same. | ![]() mcunliffe1
28/5/2023 17:30 | The Jet engine manufacturer Rolls-Royce is planning to layoff thousands of its workers to streamline its operations, The Times has reported. The luxury car manufacturer has hired consultants led by McKinsey & Co. to advise on the same, the report said. The company is considering to layoff 3,000 non-manufacturing staff from its global workforce, the report said. As part of the programme, the company plans to merge the non-manufacturing departments in each of Rolls’s civil aerospace, defence and power systems divisions, the report added. “We are working at pace on our transformation across a number of work streams and only one part of one of those work streams is about realizing organizational efficiencies," Bloomberg reported citing Rolls-Royce spokesperson. “We have made no decisions whatsoever on any potential impact on employees and any suggestion otherwise is pure speculation’, the report further added citing the spokesperson. The report further said Rolls-Royce’s headquarters is likely to be hit hardest by the cuts as most of its back-office administration functions are based in the city. Rolls-Royce CEO Tufan Erginbilgic has initiated a transformation program at the manufacturer, including some key management changes. [...] | ![]() freddie01

25/5/2023 19:49 | All I am saying is, holding a bear market currently. Not just RR RR also notorious for selling off long term in rallying markets and also the Fed pumped decade So let’s say the FTSE cracks from next week What is plan? Average down? Wouldn’t a share where that makes historical sense be better ? Or indeed if love the sector/industry - an ETF that basically covers posterior in most scenarios in the medium or long term Or indeed, why be in any at all Whether RR is 20p or 300p in 5 years is not the point The point is, it’s likely position compared to others , in 5 years | ![]() institutional investments
