RIO looking in a good position going forward, I was reading a few days ago where if copper gets too expensive in the future then companies may try and substitute certain copper parts for aluminium, of which puts RIO in a very good position and the Aluminium price is starting to rise again, if these prices can hold hen we could see RIO in the 6300/6700 area going into final results.

I don’t think the 2nd half will benefit much from the ore and copper rises, but the forecast should be better. (Just comparing the ore/copper price charts with the reporting periods)

I too made a top up of 10 at around that level and now wish it was a thousand.

That said there are times when I have got a lot of shares in something then in the future wished I had only taken a few or even none at all!!

The nature of the game we play and good luck all 👍🏻

I brought these at 47gbp, but as usual, I never buy enough !! Will add more as believe RIO will be one of the key players, in future, to drive sustainability and net ZERO emissions.

We're now at 138.5 PT for Iron Ore........Prices for iron ore cargoes with a 63.5% iron ore content for delivery in Tianjin rose past $137 per tonne in December, equalling the one-and-half-year high touched last month amid evidence of robust commodity demand among the world's top consumers. Iron ore imports from China rose by 3.4% from the previous month in November, pointing to a pickup in demand from key steel manufacturers. The same report also showed that China's steel exports grew by nearly 1% in the period, sustaining global steel demand and consequently, strong purchasing for blast furnace input materials. Earlier, the Chinese government stated it would issue CNY 1 trillion in debt to target infrastructure and manufacturing projects, magnifying previous signals from lenders, miners, and metallurgists that infrastructure expenditure in China is expected to offset the debt crisis for the residential construction sector.

Disruptions in copper mines cancel market surplus forecasts -- Market TalkSource: MF Dow Jones (English)Original article published on Dow Jones English Newswire, translated by editorial staff Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor.(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor Plus) - Milan, Dec 11 - After the first nine months of the year when copper supply remained stable, industrial metal miners have recently been grappling with increased outages and production failure, Jefferies analysts say in a statement."Market surplus forecasts for 2024 have been wiped out, and a deficit market is now the most likely scenario, as long as the U.S. economy avoids a bad downturn," analysts say.Since the beginning of the year, the copper production forecasts for 2023 by the miners Teck, Rio Tinto, Vale, Anglo American, First Quantum and Antofagasta have been cut by 8.0%. This figure is based on the midpoint of the reference ranges and does not include the recent suspension of production forecasts at Cobre Panama by First Quantum. spud

Nice but let's face it getting to their first figure of 6310 will require something special in the short term.

Good luck all 👍🏻

Funny how 6500 is pretty much an average of the last 3 tops. Difficult business working out these share price targets.

Jefferies reaffirms its 'buy' recommendation and 6,500 pence price target on Rio Tinto, following an investor meeting at which the company emphasized its potential for operational progress and long-term organic growth.

Forecast volumes reflect some growth in 2024 in most segments, with copper organic growth expected to be the strongest.

Capital expenditure is expected to rise to $10 billion a year over the next three years', it says.

I only hold the ADRs but there's a very strong correlation between USD strength and subdued share prices for the miners. I've been very happy with the dividends and always try to reinvest them around $60 but Im concerned that if the Fed is going to tone down the interest rates $90 could be back on track by February. I'm wondering what the dividend estimate is and considering investing next week pre-upgrade.

It looks like all the metals miners are due an upgrade. I'm just confused by the dislocate in oil prices. Is somebody outside of OPEC+ ramping up production?

Blackhorse has taken a big hit on CURY after ramping it and is now aiming to do the same on other stocks. His charting book doesn’t have a “this way up” sign.
