I've been day trading RIO recently was in last week at 5109 and out yesterday at 5221, back in today at 5155 and sold later today at 5217, set a limit @ 5135 for my next entry as I'm flat with RIO at the moment.

I thought the production report made for good reading and that we would push on further into the 5200's today and maybe even challenge 5300.

Rio Tinto PLC (RIO) Earnings Exceed Expectations with 3Q Mined Copper Production Surpassing Estimates

Rio Tinto’s third quarter mined copper production surpassed estimates, producing 155,100 tons compared to the estimated 150,354
.
The refined copper output stood at 34,100 tons
.
Bauxite production was slightly lower than estimated, with 13.9 million tons produced against the estimated 14.19 million.

Alumina production was also slightly lower than estimated, with 1.90 million tons produced against the estimated 1.92 million.

Aluminum production exceeded estimates, with 828,000 tons produced compared to the estimated 816,665.

IOC iron ore pellets and concentrate production was at 2.4 million tons.

I thought today was a bit of a strange trading day, I read the RNS of today and honestly thought it sounded positive news? was there a down grade or some negative China news? I really can't understand why the drop today? BHP also?
