I agree, this is not their private business and therefore the decisions taken have to be in the best interests of shareholders. That is what happens when you list the company on the stock market.

fair enough but as we know we should get max value as minority shareholders if we are selling for cash not stock. they can not have their cake and eat it. if you put yourself up for sale - promises of protecting staff etc are all lip service imo.

edwardt_ IMO they are trying to preserve the identity and ethics of our Company rather than leaving it to their executors to orchestrate a fire sale when they pass.

They will not want this company going to a non Uk buyer nor will they sell it for an asset strip. I suspect there will be quite a few interested parties and negotiations take time. Keep the faith - this id a top class act and slimmed down post Covid 2020

Totally agree with your assessment.
If they can't find a buyer, maybe they could place the shares with institutions. Could be a big ask, but may be possible as a last resort.
There has to be an endgame.
There are a lot of Forms 8.3 and 8.5 being presented.
Could a concert party with 25% have any influence?

redartbumd - They are also (apparently) very responsible employers and will (imo) want to protect their workforce - also as the company is a world leader a high risk of being cslled in by HMG under national security provisions - So the odd fiver - either way - of no real importance to them so might well not go to the highest bidder - Remember they control the company and PI's & II's have only been along for a very profitable ride.

There is a lot of cheap finance out there, if an investor needs to raise additional funds to support a transaction.
McM & D will only want cash, otherwise no point in selling.
GE isn't the business it was a few years ago.

Not sure what's going on with the sale of the business but it has been very quiet.Either there is not much interest in the company or talks have not leaked. We should find out either way sooner or later.

bloomberg says hexagon and danaher most likely with expressions of interest from private equity (unnamed) - indicates due to the full valuation they will look to break the business up into its parts. we shall see but hopefully a bidding 'war' could well ensue.

Hexagon have coveted this asset for a long long time. I would expect 20% premium and a deal within 3 months.

GE or Hexagon would be my guesses. both uneducated and not sophisticated thought gone into it. i doubt chinese will get it as the founders would fear for the culture of the business....

doubled their profits and the business humming. now lets see who wants it. i think it is a matter of joining an orderly queue.

Thoughts as to likely price-

"The Board unanimously concluded that it would be appropriate to investigate the sale of the Company and has therefore launched a formal sale process for the Company. See www.renishaw.com/fsp . "

A world market leader - Chinese takeaway likely to be blocked as against national security and interest - American possible - Other thoughts?

If this is a highly valued tech stock then I can understand the fall-it moves with the NASDAQ.

Maybe no official news of interested parties causing the fall. The other route is going private and that will not be the best option for us.
