ok so it might be 'expensive' but keyence has a market cap of $120bn and foxconn 90bn usd . rsw's know how and valuation as a standalone entity is probably 1 years free cash flow for these guys. they get a lot of knowledge that they can apply to their gorilla sized businesses. i think value will out.

i meant before the sales intention announcement. there of course has been no offer as yet.

Just trying to get the facts straight. There is no offer as you implied and at the moment it is a falling knife which does not necessarily mean you sell if you are a long term holder but definitely need to be careful jumping in.

What offer?? You mean when the company put itself up for sale?Looks like no one is interested at the price the company is being offered at. Check the news.

bought another load just under 5630 - even before the offer this was trading at 5800 so still a bargain imo

apparently bloomberg running article last night saying less bidders stepped forward due to the insistence on r&d and valuation. keyence and foxconn still involved. they both have very deep pockets...

a decision they no doubt regretted. anyway, strikes me the recent fall is an opportunity as trading was top notch and the chances of a series of rival bids are not insignificant.

I agree, this is not their private business and therefore the decisions taken have to be in the best interests of shareholders. That is what happens when you list the company on the stock market.

fair enough but as we know we should get max value as minority shareholders if we are selling for cash not stock. they can not have their cake and eat it. if you put yourself up for sale - promises of protecting staff etc are all lip service imo.

edwardt_ IMO they are trying to preserve the identity and ethics of our Company rather than leaving it to their executors to orchestrate a fire sale when they pass.

They will not want this company going to a non Uk buyer nor will they sell it for an asset strip. I suspect there will be quite a few interested parties and negotiations take time. Keep the faith - this id a top class act and slimmed down post Covid 2020

PUG Totally agree with your assessment. If they can't find a buyer, maybe they could place the shares with institutions. Could be a big ask, but may be possible as a last resort. There has to be an endgame. There are a lot of Forms 8.3 and 8.5 being presented. Could a concert party with 25% have any influence?

redartbumd - They are also (apparently) very responsible employers and will (imo) want to protect their workforce - also as the company is a world leader a high risk of being cslled in by HMG under national security provisions - So the odd fiver - either way - of no real importance to them so might well not go to the highest bidder - Remember they control the company and PI's & II's have only been along for a very profitable ride.

There is a lot of cheap finance out there, if an investor needs to raise additional funds to support a transaction. McM & D will only want cash, otherwise no point in selling. GE isn't the business it was a few years ago.

Not sure what's going on with the sale of the business but it has been very quiet.Either there is not much interest in the company or talks have not leaked. We should find out either way sooner or later.
