does this enter the fste 100 as market cap higher or because in a takeover situation it does not?

could get interesting - power struggle between fanuc /hexagon or indeed some chinese firm that none of us have heard of. this is a rare UK strategic asset akin to ARM holdings so this will get alot of attention.

But at what price?????????????????? Might get an indication at opening Very likely to be sbject to strategic review as one of the few British world leading companies If Chinese bid very likely (imo) to be blocked for policy reasons American bid - Probabaly likely to have a significant number of enforceable conditions As Sir David McMurtry and John Deer are very wealthy they might well not accept the higest bid but go for a lower offer that preserves the nature of the compamy and those who work for it - Could well see a significant drop this morning - BWTFDIK

Just profit-taking. Look at the chart, it's a regular occurrence. Mind you I think that the p/e is ahead of events.

slightly below consensus expectations on forward guidance. i see that as ok - under promise and over deliver. one to own for decades so i shouldn't really care about market perception.

Possibly profit taking after good results - p/e still high - but not a trading stock as very illiquid, Only 20K shares traded so far -

I just love RSW - Just goes to prove some of the quietest threads host the strongest performing companies - Long may it continue - Very low city profile - Managment just get on with the job of driving research - sales and profit, "Significant improvement in profitability in the first half as the benefits of our Fit for the Future strategy continued to be felt: - adjusted1 profit before tax of £43.4m (H1 2019/20: £14.3m) - statutory profit before tax of £63.9m (H1 2019/20: £9.9m ) ยท Robust balance sheet with net cash and bank deposit balances of £186.6m, compared with £120.4m at 30 June 2020"

This company will be taken out before it has a chance to become a multi bagger!

To me, despite it is an excellent company, this stock does not follow any market logic at all. Following negatives updates, sharply reduced numbers, no dividend and Covid-19 slowing economies, manufacturing and logistics all over the world, the share price - with low volume - is now at almost all time high. I keep scratching my head to understand the logic behind it even if they predict wonders for the future, an uncertain future as never before, pointing at the horizon. Very strange indeed.

because it is valued on the net present value of future cashflows. It has whopping margins to boot with optionality on new verticals that are maturing that will open up cashflows on similar margins for decades. P/e ratios are simply a very blunt method of valuing a company and have near zero means of forecasting future shareholder returns. A p/e of 60 is somewhat irrelevant. i am not sure what investor said, i can increase my profits by stopping investing in my business. the problem is in a few years i will not have a business. there are few exceptions to this rule apart from say rightmove which has a roce of something crazy like 3000%.

Can anyone explain how the valuation is justified here? On every metric I am looking at, the valuation is insane! This is one of a handful of UK stocks trading in line with bloated US valuations.

i always find it curious why boards of good companies like rsw are so quiet. i am sure someone should do an algorithm shorting stocks with lots of posts. anyway, i will stop posting here to stop a short position being taken out!

Analysts have tipped Renishaw, the engineer based in Gloucestershire, to add “billions in value” over the next decade should its ventures into robotic brain surgery and 3D printing pay off. https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/engineer-s-robotic-move-tipped-to-add-billions-mk7zw289d

Sudden blip up in price today on no news - just general market noise? Or is there more to it - share price has been seeming relatively strong against the market.

did the q&a go silent for everyone else. my takes were positive. healthcare division should attract investment from med tech firms - seems a good way of derisking. loved the pushback on aero section - saying they are next gen. the bae additive printing goal of 30% parts is clearly rsw machines which is a big win. also liked the ceo's delivery - very assured. the finance guy sent me to sleep which is what you want from him i guess. i guess on 7 times sales it is up with events but i intend to hold for a decade unless it gets sold to the chinese.
