Not specific to RSW but institutions and investors are getting out of the markets as there is evidence of recession with inflation persisting and rising to possibly 18% next year. In addition, the Russia/Ukraine conflict does not seem to have an end on sight. The China/Taiwan possible disruption of semi-conductors as Taiwan holds 61% of the world production. All these events are making it very difficult to invest for the short or the long term in these markets as nobody can quantify the extent of future effects. This is my own opinion only.

Come on girls. Put the handbags away.
It is what it is, and we are where we are.

Renishaw has always been run by McM as a 'private' company that just happens to be quoted.
It has grown into a significant business and the controlling owners are getting old. Senior management are by and large promoted from within, and have the Rsw culture ingrained in their psyche. Very clever but little experience of the big wide world.
Non-Execs are largely 'yes people' recruited to meet listing criteria. They lack teeth.

Having said that they are still up at the top of the tree in core businesses.

No idea what may happen next, so it is decision time.

Stick or twist?

Don't moan about it, as it isn't changing anytime soon.

FWIW The outcome is much as I expected from the time of the announcement.

I'm sticking.

foxcon moving into car manufacturing for the new apple car and they have their hat in the ring for this one. me thinks them and keyence are two gorillas who will fight if they want rsw.

I just love RSW - Just goes to prove some of the quietest threads host the strongest performing companies - Long may it continue - Very low city profile - Managment just get on with the job of driving research - sales and profit,

"Significant improvement in profitability in the first half as the benefits of our Fit for the Future strategy continued to be felt:

- adjusted1 profit before tax of £43.4m (H1 2019/20: £14.3m)

- statutory profit before tax of £63.9m (H1 2019/20: £9.9m )

ยท Robust balance sheet with net cash and bank deposit balances of £186.6m, compared with £120.4m at 30 June 2020"

To me, despite it is an excellent company, this stock does not follow any market logic at all. Following negatives updates, sharply reduced numbers, no dividend and Covid-19 slowing economies, manufacturing and logistics all over the world, the share price - with low volume - is now at almost all time high. I keep scratching my head to understand the logic behind it even if they predict wonders for the future, an uncertain future as never before, pointing at the horizon. Very strange indeed.

i always find it curious why boards of good companies like rsw are so quiet. i am sure someone should do an algorithm shorting stocks with lots of posts. anyway, i will stop posting here to stop a short position being taken out!

did the q&a go silent for everyone else.

my takes were positive.

healthcare division should attract investment from med tech firms - seems a good way of derisking.

loved the pushback on aero section - saying they are next gen. the bae additive printing goal of 30% parts is clearly rsw machines which is a big win.

also liked the ceo's delivery - very assured. the finance guy sent me to sleep which is what you want from him i guess.

i guess on 7 times sales it is up with events but i intend to hold for a decade unless it gets sold to the chinese.

This is the only stock I never understood its logic. While others get butchered for a slight hick up, RSW, normally a growth stock, get away with a very bad recent update, by hitting a new high of almost £54 ! Today is another proof that the business is suffering and thus the share price should be in the lower £20's and yet, after a few days, I won't be surprised to see the share price slowly drifting to new highs ! When EPS drops by 100% it may be good news for some "segments" in the market. This is without recognising RSW is a great company though. But the share price does not reflect the business strength and growth to me.

Results very much in line with trading update - Financially in a strong position but no dividends for the year.

Outlook still very foggy - Management seem to have positioned the company well during the 1st phase of Covid - Will be very interesting to listen to the webinar and questions at midday-

In normal times would expect a 10% fall on market opening but in these pandemic times could even go up as the company is a survivor though facing difficult times -in paricular in automotive.
