The world’s biggest oil companies are closing more clean energy deals as pressure to diversify their businesses mounts and growth accelerates among green technologies.

Oil majors more than doubled the number of acquisitions, project investments and venture capital stakes, to 44 in 2016 from 21 the year before, according to research published Tuesday by Bloomberg New Energy Finance. In the last 15 years, they’ve completed 428 transactions and spent $6.2 billion building stakes in clean energy companies.

The World Bank has announced it will grant an International Development Association Credit of $150 million to the government of Kenya for the development of off-grid PV solutions for Kenya’s remote regions with no connection with the country’s power transmission network.

The funds will be used to bring electricity to around 1.3 million people in 277,000 households across 14 counties in Northeastern Kenya. The World Bank stated that ten of the counties are included as part of the north-eastern Development Initiative (NEDI).

The project, which includes collaboration between the public and private sectors, embedded operation and maintenance, as well as financing of the solar home system component, will provide households, businesses and community facilities with off-grid and micro grid PV solutions.

Alchemy even though testing was done last year and approval obtained you still have paperwork to submit....and approval.

Linking to the grid is proven and agreed though.Strathclyde test..as I recall. Are those presentations available to ordinary mortals?Newquay rocking again today. (Bloodhound ..accelerating nearly as fast as our share price ..lol)

quite a strong recovery.

i was expecting most who went to the presentation to pile in and buy today - those presentations are very motivating.

likewise for the presentations to institutions.

Here are my notes from the Investor Presentation, hope it's of use and makes sense.


Installation
9 weeks installation - delays due to parts not delivered on time
G59 Testing, not sure what that means. Not yet on grid. Planning permission for grid connection came through 10 days ago. If I understood things correctly it will be 2 weeks before being on grid. Currently connected to diesel generator to charge units and then discharged through load bank

because the system must be disconnected from the Grid, otherwise it would not be up and running, so originally the generator was connected to the grid along with the solar ( solar grid generator), now (solar generator battery), future (solar grid battery generator)

The system is up and running but not connected to the grid?
Awaiting G59 certificat.
Working and storing solar output for use as and when?
Why the generator?

Tradermal I didn't mention anything about an event today I'm my write up of the Investors day.That said. All I know is that there is another presentation today which is being led by a local Law Firm, the numbers attending I have no idea.

John has worked hard for the company over the years and invested money in the company, after all the years he has been involved he took a small amount of money off the table, that aside he has renewable company,s that will need storage, the time now is right to install that storage, some may say if he purchases from the company he will have had mates rates, so that will create a conflict of interest....especially if REDT are taking a stake in the storage his companys buy!!!

Grab, we have no info to go on as to why he no longer wanted to be a director, so everything is speculation. Could be tax reasons, simplifying he life so he's a director of only 10 not 11 companies or thereabouts, he may not like the sandwiches at the red board meetings, he may not want to have a conflict of interests in future deals, he may just want to cruise the world without thinking about red, ..... Could go on forever speculating.

Aardvark, can you confirm I heard correctly yesterday? 30 possible buyers at Olde House today attending a similar event as yesterday?

Just for note: At the event yesterday Scott did return to the point of Gildermeisters bad working practices with a superior product that resulted in the company going bust. He mentioned this thread a few times and at the time I could not understand why. Speculation now --> I wonder if John Ward wanted a more spendthrift stance against Scott's steady approach? Losing such a battle might encourage Ward to have resigned if he had championed a losing strategy. If Ward understands the business model as I feel I did yesterday he will be in no hurry to sell his stock at reduced levels. If I understood all the details correctly this company has a massive future within its grasp with very capable BoD.
