In retrospect that seems like a pretty smart move! For some reason it has fallen back again.....

Gold price looking good. Trump failing to get the healthcare bill passed seems to have weakened the dollar. Lets hope that continues for a while. I think Le Pen is likely to be very close to winning, or win, the French election. That will scare people and weaken the euro. One problem for FTSE stocks could be that Sterling rises - because the EU will look weaker and therefore Brexit could seem easier to negotiate. However, pushing the pound down will the media focus on the negative opinions of people in Brussels saying "no deal", "big fine", "can't make leaving easy for you" etc so that should keep the pound down and FTSE stocks cheap for foreign investors. I am pretty confident the gold price will reach higher highs. Im going for a gold price of 2000+ and RRS to reach 11,500.

Another pure gold play is Golden Prospect Mining (GPM). A classic investment trust targeting gold and other mining play shares, but mainly gold/silver stocks.

NAV discount is currently 14.85%. Nav is around 47p, the shares trade at 40.45p currently.

Move correspondingly up and down with the gold price, and highly geared, so quite risky. Low is 25.25p and high is 58.50p for the past 12 months.

Yes, it (BRWM) may be a good longer term play and it has been hammered recently. I like the discount to NAV - 14.76%. Also the divi yield is 3.69%.

Had a gander at BRWM Fez77.Plenty of Blue chip miners in there, plus exposure to Newmont mining which i like.I'm holding back until i see what the fall-out is from Friday night's debacle in Congress re the USD and where oil prices are going. If oil drops further then it will take the whole commodity space with it imho.We have seen a drop in the dollar which should help commodities prices such as oil,but we haven't seen that.We all know it's an oversupply problem with oil, rather than a big fall off in demand, but bonio10000 's aforementioned algos don't know that and lower oil prices are correlated to a drop in world economic growth, regarding their programming. Also,China manufacturing pmi data is due out tail end of next week and it was softish Jan and Feb.Another factor now of course is how much of Trump's infrastructure spending is going to be granted? A lot of the miners rallied December thru January on prospective US infrastructure spending. Also Dr Copper has trended lower since a mid-Feb high. Thanks again for the tip.I will be keeping an eye on it.

Precisely, like the way you're thinking bonio10000!.You can fool some people all of the time, and all people some of the time, but you can't fool all of the people all of the time. The markets may double their bets and Dow,S&P and nasdaq may still rise from their current levels, but i am quite happy with the safe haven play in PMs.Imho i don't think the dollar can rally much,if at all from these levels,so medium and long term pog must be a good bet.Short term, who knows. With GBp at 125 against the dollar and hopefully staying there,it makes some pound earning stocks in the UK a bit more attractive to home and foreign investors.Just need to see article 50 triggered, the market reaction to that,if any,and re-assess.GLA.

Love it.GOP members in Congress didn't want Trump's Affordable Care act as a replacement for Obamacare/aid.What a shambles. The Donald now moves on to his grand tax plan. The problem is,on November 9 last year, the risk-on trades began with the rotation of investment out of bonds and gold/pms into US equities in particular. Now that the Trump rally has happened, in anticipation of growth, corporate earnings increases and general feel-good,he has to deliver these tax cuts. With Obamacare still in place, dragging down growth potential because of its increasing, inherent liabilities, and big individual premium increases for some States, the amount Mr Trump thought he had for tax cuts is less.Plus without the BAT (border adjustment tax), which is unlikely now in view of the vote lost against Obamacare, then the US budget deficit is going to balloon even more.Big question now is whether there's going to be a U-turn back into safe-haven assets like gold,or whether ,now that the big bet has been made on Trump with US equities, the big money is relying on Trump coming good! Thanks for the heads up on BRWM Fez77,always good to run the ruler over other investments not on the radar!

Oh mate, you don't know what suffering is! I've been long PMs and diamonds a long time.I've done alright with gold,gold/miners and AAL,but had a very profitable position in Lonmin until last December.I'm still in profit, but when you do research and back your hunches for a year and then see your hard won disappear in three months it's a salutary lesson.Having invested for years and had successes in other fields,i now have a very healthy respect for the commodity sector. The high gearing of the industry means timing is everything in this sector!
