Not sure what's worse, maersk not using scrubbers, or the continual pop-up William Hill ads on my mobile phone. Will have to be patient for the inevitable then

Enough for over 3 years at current rate of burn Kreature ... tough luck!
"No debt and £8.4 million (2014: £11.1 million) in cash reserves at 30 June 2015." Burn in 2014 - 15 - £2.7 mill.

The KSA project alone which will save the KSA something in the region of $17 bill /an , quite handy when you have a deficit of $68 bill, will make the company without the shipping business ... and as Maersk are fully behind the shipping side its full steam ahead on that front too ... ;) Best wishes for 2016 ....

On a stenaline in ECA, virtually no visible emissions using the SCR thing and probably MGO. Apparently no difficulty moving forward without water in fuel. Hope to see some new year share price cheer here to support next position. Anyone know roughly how much cash remains?

Re. Triton ...... Looks pretty early stage to me; capital value $6 mill.

Here's an update from earlier in 2015:

hxxp://tritoninc.com/triton-emission-solutions-inc-announces-corporate-update/

"Although Triton is optimistic that its DSOX-20 system may be able to eventually lower the pre-combustion level of sulfur in HFO down to the required 0.1%, the Company has designed an exhaust gas scrubber that would reduce any residual sulfur emissions along with reducing nitric oxide and carbon dioxide emissions."

"Since January, Triton has been supervising the installation of a DSOX-20 for project Poseidon. This installation was completed on April 3rd and the Company started the commissioning process immediately thereafter." Hardly a slick operation ....

"On March 23rd, Anders Aasen joined the Triton team replacing Rasmus Norling as CEO. Mr. Aasen is a 24 year veteran of fortune 500 company, Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, for which he served as Associate Vice President of their Global Marine Technical Services team providing technical services for its entire fleet. Mr. Norling who is extremely optimistic about the progress the Company made so far commented: “Based on the preliminary lab results, we were certain the first production unit would be able to significantly reduce sulfur inheavy fuel oil (HFO). While we’ve incurred a number of setbacks not related to the DSOX-20, we’ve made great strides in improving the efficiency of our pre-combustion desulfurization system. I could not be more confident in the efficacy of our system.” Mr. Norling continued: “There are at least two dozen different types of HFO worldwide and we are now testing the DSOX-20 system on a wide variety of these fuel types. In addition, we have designed an exhaust gas scrubber that is specifically engineered to compliment the DSOX-20 system to allow for even cleaner byproduct.”"

They used to be called Polyshield Technologies. Here's a link to an article in 2013 ... not much seems to have changed since then ...

hxxps://www.equities.com/news/how-poly-shield-technologies-inc-can-save-the-maritime-industry

Looks like they are years away from anything commercial I would suggest as I can't see why they wouldn't have to go through a full LONO process just like QFI have if they are treating and changing the nature of the fuel.

Option taken?

'Quadrise has placed an order for one refinery specification MMU for delivery early Q2 2015 and has agreed an option to acquire a second identical unit in 2015.'

Yeh Ammona - An amazing piece of kit that's actually fitted to a cruise liner & apparently works! - turns standard hfo into an emulsion & removes all sulphur & other pollutant - pre combustion!!!!

Trouble is why would anyone want to fit one to each ship - Stupid & ain't gonna happen

Attach one downstream of an mum & you have delsuphurised and cleaned up MSAR - yer granny could drink the stuff!

Maybe a bit of fine tuning required for the new process but who needs exhaust gas scrubbers?

' The Saudi project is still anticipated to proceed in 2015 with the programme now scheduled to begin towards the end of the year, after the summer power demand peak.'

Happy New Year QFI

"The net result should mean that, in a post 0.50 percent global sulfur cap world, whether that be 2020 or 2025, the cost savings case for using HFO and a scrubber will be somewhat stronger than it is today."

pcjoe,
Great idea mate!your 30996! wouldn't that be a turn up for QFI if it could be done? pity I can't quite see it myself though. The scrubber manufacturers are banking on selling 1 per ship (x's 1000's) not 100's but, hey! great idea anyway, happy Xmas to you and yours.

As things stand don't you have to burn the fuel before you can scrub out the harmful inherent metals etc, in the original crude oil, together with the further harmful combustion products and residues? - The good news is - there is now so much development going on which is hitting the press that the status quo is no longer an option for the industry. - Hopefully we (QFI) are now in front of the game and ready to roll out our (MSAR) solution whilst any potential variations or alternative jump through their own hoops. - The world - and QFI small shareholders are watching with interest!!!!

Low sulphur, low metal/toxin pollutant msar2 & zero scrubber option looking more likely all the time?

Further thoughts on this one - the small scrubber idea is great as scrubbers go but why have separate pre combustion Dsox units on each ship? - just attach one unit to an mmu to clean the sulphur and pollutants - finished low sulphur & cleaned msar2 delivered direct to ship & no scrubber required! - who do I charge my fees to?😀

Well well - Talking about cutting edge tech advances - Here`s a good one - News just breaking on what looks like a real & unique scrubber break through - Could be wrong of course & early days but looks very impressive - Check out this page - click on the video & scroll down thereafter ( Bit of a fussy website)

The claims for their products? - Very low back pressure ( fuel efficiency) - No Alakali/other chemicals required - An exhaust scrubber of half the size of any other with associated green tech - Simple, quick & cheap installation - & this -

"Clean You Can Bank On - With our DSOX-20 technology we have found a way to make this happen. As a byproduct the system also removes other harmful alkali metals such as vanadium, sodium and calcium. The DSOX-20 system works by creating an emulsion of fuel and process water, which is injected into the unit under high pressure."

It is certain that their standard HFO fuel for emulsifying will contain the usual distillates for viscosity reasons - MSAR2 offers a pre mixed emulsion & no wasted distillates

Another possible winning combination in the making..
