Do Laxey have a history of buying whole companies ? I thought they generally agitated for change or pushed a company towards a suitor when they saw a nice return by providing the large stake as a guarantee to get it through.

They do not talk to me about what they want to do here but I am sure they have communicated with the board.

nigelpalm : You could well be right .Laxey might be looking to make a bid between 60 and 70p ...whatever....those who stick with genuinely undervalued stocks are always rewarded. That's my limited experience . Just when it looks like the bid won't happen....it does!

If I were Laxey I'd want the share price as low as possible to then make a low-ball bid.

I still see this a bit of a risk here but probably not huge.

Laxey firmly believe that corporate action is inevitable with such disparity between NAV and market value ...hence stake building.

Buying later today ahead of tomorrow's statement?

Gonna be interesting to see what's been exciting Laxey Partners perhaps.

Very interesting sector-related article in The Telegraph ( print copy yesterday and online )saying that The Duke of Westminster's property company, Grosvenor, could start buying shares in LISTED property companies as part of plans to expand its fund management arm.

Prospects for genuine designer outlet centres remains strong.

"Prospects good for McArthurGlen
23-09-2011 | 07:00 | Print
The outlook for designer outlet centres looks bright as bargain-hunters move away from the high street, reports The Times.

McArthurGlen enjoyed a 66% uplift in sales of designer clothing last month compared with August last year. The malls owner plans to open new centres in Athens this year and in Neumünster, near Hamburg, in 2012.

The EC Prime Ministers are doing great job of destroying faith in their ability to run a corner shop as they clearly can't run the EU.

Sorry to say, SHUJJA, that that is absolutely valueless posting.

It's a NAV play, not a "price of shares has gone down so therefore it will go down further" play.

If Standard Life have dropped from above 5% to only 3.87%, they have little left to dump (well, 20m shares).

That overhang won't last long if they are keen to exit completely, surprised they haven't done an off-market deal with Laxey, save some commission...

Looks very encouraging to me.

Burgers, pizzas, frankie and benny's, cineworld.

Is the LDO shaping up to be an upmarket Designer Outlet (like Bicester Village) or more of a down/mid-market Factory Outlet like Hatfield Galleria which calls itself Outlet Shopping ?
