IC doesn't think it will achieve its 75% revenue rise over the next 5 yrs without acquisitions but points out that it is looking hard and has £220M cash in the piggy bank. (It also mentions a £3.7M charge for a unsuccessful bid, I missed that in the prelims, as a sign of activity).However it comments maybe time to bank some profits and concludes HOLD. Which was my plan anyway...

Or not...the prelims seem to suggest that things not quite as good as hoped. Even allowing for the write-down, the profits are still down on both of last 2 yrs.

Great start to the week here , though share price still about 20p below the ATH just before the pandemic. Looks like that might be challenged in the next few weeks bearing in mind the sector strength.

QinetiQ Group plc issued a Q4 trading update this morning. The Group delivered strong operational performance through Q4 and as such now expects FY22 results to be marginally ahead of previous guidance and consensus expectations. Organic revenue growth will be c. 5%, with underlying operating profit of at least £135m. The balance sheet remains strong with net cash of around £225m. Management also retain medium-term guidance and are targeting mid-single digit percentage compound annual organic revenue growth over the next five years. There will also be further strategic acquisitions to boost growth, and management are targeting a long-term operating profit margin of 12%-13%. Valuation is attractive, forward PE ratio at 14.5 ranks the company top out of 10 names in the Aerospace and Defense Market. The share price even has some near term momentum. BUY....

Good to also see the end of the hanging failure:

"The complex project contract is now closed and the financial impact remains the GBP14.5m write-down fully contained in our first half results."

All good here, the 2 key points IMO are the US problem contract closure and supply/inflationary pressures remain under control. These remain in my bottom draw. Buy, hold, forget.

Yes sorry I am new here, I don't read Updates, I only trade on whims and random urges...

I thought that the updates and results suggested that they had a short term problem and that in the context of the longer picture and the wider market , the drop was mysterious (hence I added at 260) but maybe I am overstating it as a mystery...

Seems @wad collector does not really follow QQ as they would be aware of the H1 drop reasons.

Defence has become an even more defensive play but QQ is still only back up to the 2021 levels after that mysterious winter share price drop. Surely there is still a significant upside from here ? It's in a tidy niche with high entry barriers and a steady yield.
