Third Quarter Trading Update

31 January 2019 - QinetiQ Group plc (QinetiQ or the Group) today issued a trading update covering its third quarter.

Maintaining expectations

The Group has continued to perform well and we are maintaining our expectations for Group performance in the current FY19 financial year.

EMEA Services

The EMEA Services division continued to deliver encouraging organic order and revenue growth compared to the prior year. Revenue under contract and operating profit were in line with our expectations.

Discussions with the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) on the remaining scope of the Long Term Partnering Agreement (LTPA) for test and evaluation services continue to make good progress. The Group aims to secure pricing to 2028 and agree a similar level of investment and recovery mechanism to the December 2016 LTPA amendment.

Global Products

The Global Products division delivered positive organic order and revenue growth compared to the prior year, with underlying operating profit improving during the third quarter. Revenue performance was particularly strong in QinetiQ North America.

Strategy Update

The implementation of our strategy continues to gather momentum. Our increasing customer focus has resulted in further competitive contract wins and the successful delivery of key projects.

Our investment in UK Defence Test and Evaluation has supported the delivery of critical programmes:

- We are modernising MOD air ranges under the December 2016 LTPA amendment and this has enabled
us to secure a contract to deliver Formidable Shield 2019. Building on the success of the
2017 event, QinetiQ will host this large, multi-national maritime exercise that will test
the ability to respond to the latest and most advanced ballistic missile and sea skimming
threats.
- We are playing a key role in supporting the UK MOD to assure the capability of the new F-35
aircraft. During the period, working with our partners, we successfully delivered the first
live firings of F-35 weapons in the UK at the Aberporth air range.

We are becoming a more international company with further good progress in our non-UK home countries of the US and Australia as well as wider international markets.

- As announced by the US Department of Defence in December 2018, QinetiQ North America was awarded
a $90m framework contract to support the sustainment of the TALON family of robotic systems
(hxxps://dod.defense.gov/News/Contracts/Contract-View/Article/1716020/).
- Integration of Germany-based E.I.S. Aircraft Operations is progressing well with the combined
business already working together on a number of customer projects.

We continue to advance our innovation strategy across our company:

- In October 2018, we signed a ten-year framework contract to be the Engineering Delivery Partner
to the UK MOD's procurement agency DE&S. We have secured more than GBP25m of tasking orders
through this contract to date. This innovative approach to supply chain management ensures
our largest UK customer receives the best possible engineering service from across the UK
supplier base cost effectively.
- Following the launch of the European Space Agency's BepiColombo mission in October 2018, QinetiQ's
T6 ion engines are now propelling the spacecraft on its seven-year voyage to Mercury.

Preliminary results

QinetiQ will report its preliminary results for FY19 on Thursday 23 May 2019.

320 would become an ATH I think ; this seems immune to Brexit fears at the moment and rather outperforming the previous broker guesses.

Just noticed that it shed its dividend last week with barely a ripple in the share price Not really surprising as it was a paltry 2.1p. The yield is now dropping towards 2% as it creeps to 305p.

Good enough to support a higher price than 280p I would have thought. Divi covered 4x again in a high tech niche company (admittedly low yield) does not look overpriced to me.

Interims look solid.

‘90% of FY19 revenue under contract, maintaining expectations for Group performance’

Less reliant on UK: ‘Grown international share of revenue from 26% to 31% over the last year’

in case you missed it

"22 October 2018
QinetiQ Group plc ("QinetiQ" or "the Group") announces that it has agreed to acquire 85% of the shares of Inzpire Group Limited ("Inzpire" or "the Company"), with an agreement to acquire the remaining 15% after two years, for a total consideration of GBP23.5 million.
Inzpire has a five-year track record of consistent revenue growth, and is expected to deliver GBP13.3m revenue and GBP2.0m of adjusted EBITDA in the financial year to 31 August 2018.
Inzpire is a leading provider of operational training and mission systems for military customers in the UK and internationally. Approximately three quarters of its revenue comes from airborne training and evaluation services, primarily for the Royal Air Force. The balance of its revenue is from the sale of aviation mission system products ranging from standalone tablets to full mission support systems integrated with aircraft avionics. "

Drove past entrance to HQ on way home yesterday after 4 days in Poole which we often visit even though is over 4 hours from home and reminded me still have not bought back in and would like to have back in the "wrinkly fund" to forget about but still haven't come back to target - bite the bullet or wait a little longer ????
Will watch the market for a bit as looks a little fragile to me at moment

First Quarter Trading Update

25 July 2018 - QinetiQ Group plc (QinetiQ or the Group) today issues a trading update covering the period from 31 March 2018.

Maintaining expectations

Underlying trading for the Group was as expected during the first quarter, with no change to expectations for Group performance in the current financial year.

EMEA Services

The EMEA Services division continued to deliver against our growth strategy, increasing both revenue and orders organically against the same period last year. Revenue under contract is in line with our expectations for this point of the year.

We continue to pursue business winning campaigns based on major government-funded programmes and made good strategic progress in the period including a number of contract awards from the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD):

1. The EMEA Services division won the competition for the Battlefield and Tactical Communications
& Information Systems (BATCIS) contract, worth up to GBP95 million over five years. BATCIS
is our largest competitive win since the implementation of our new growth strategy and a demonstration
of our increasing customer focus
2. Following a competitive process, we won a five year contract to build and maintain a synthetic
environment to provide test and reference services for a new ground-based air defence system
3. With our partners Atkins and BMT, we have been confirmed preferred bidder by the UK MOD for
the Engineering Delivery Partner (EDP) programme

That's up 40% in 4 months now ; and what , fundamentally, has changed that makes this 40% more valuable?

Shame! share price continues to gallop though. Up 35% in 3 months.
A bid by BAe would avoid the security issues and maybe complement their existing strengths; here is hoping. But won't hold breath.

Is QQ a legitimate takeover target?
Good balance sheet & high growth market sectors but I have a vague recollection there are some restrictions on takeover possibilities.
I’d be grateful if anyone can remind Or illuminate me.

If you take out the non-recurring figure in the FY18 profits , they are flat and the medium term statement a bit cautious. The longer term statement more positive though.
The dividend is well covered, at about 3.5X on the adjusted figures , but at 2.5% yield , it ought to be!
Still holding for 300+ again. Maybe not this year.

ttg , you can't time every deal perfectly , be happy with your profit , and who can say that you won't be buying back at a significant discount soon?
I wonder how long the recent market rally will last; not sure it is really based on sound economics.
