The takeover possibility is always going to be a thorny issue with the Defence sector , partly because of the MOD still holding a veto (less than in did following the 2012 changes) but also the possible conflict of interest about another Defence contractor .
I think that valuing it on the basis of potential takeovers is a bit optimistic ,hope I am wrong.

TTG didn't you used to trade these quite a bit ? I stopped as longer term investing seemed to work better for me.

" QinetiQ upgrading its annual guidance, citing stronger orders and margins in the fourth quarter. QinetiQ said it now expected to post an underlying operating profit for the year through March of at least £147 million."

More News in link above

Am still holding and now just going to put in bottom drawer for longer term as convinced some one will buy.

We retain our medium to long-term guidance: we are targeting mid-single digit percentage compound annual organic revenue growth over the next 5 years

Hold and prosper I reckon.

I can sniff a one year high coming...

Someuwin I agree it is a hot sector , but my experience with hot sectors is that it is very easy to get burned....prefer this warm sector instead. Battery technology has massive potential , but only if you back a winner...

Worth looking at AMTE Power. LSE:AMTE

This newly listed battery tech co is effectively a QQ spin out.

Huge potential in this super hot sector,

BARCLAYS RAISES QINETIQ PRICE TARGET TO 406 (380) PENCE - 'OVERWEIGHT'

Chart looking promising recently . 406 seems a long way off , but the market is a bit buoyant in some sectors.

Missed the Q3 TU
13 January 2021 - QinetiQ Group plc ("QinetiQ" or "the Group") today issues a trading update covering its third quarter of trading.

Good momentum, maintaining expectations

Building on a strong first half to the financial year, the Group has continued to deliver well with continued strong performance through the third quarter. While we remain cautious and alert to the changing COVID-19 environment, we are on-track for our fifth consecutive year of organic growth and we continue to maintain our expectations for the full year, as outlined at our interim results in November 2020.

Just noticed yesterday's RNS

QinetiQ wins GBP127m Typhoon contract through EDP

Not to be sniffed at, although there is a bit of double accounting here as they do point out it was included in the £500m forward orders in the November statement. Nevertheless it is a high profile win for the Eurofighter , so deserves some trumpeting.
I must confess I misread the EDP as the English Defence Partnership , I wondered if it was some sort of post -Brexit nationalist organisation but pleased to see more mundane explanation.

Actually Wad the UK accounts for 70% of Qq revenues so the price reaction to todays announcement is a little surprising, perhaps the recent steady rise has something to do with it. I hold this and BAE, expecting an earnings enhancing acquisition from QQ soon with all the cash on the balance sheet.

Yes , surprising that share price has now dropped below opening price. UK is not the biggest customer I suppose.
Can't find in this years results the UK percentage of profits but must be somewhere.

Looks like a good set of results and forecast to me. Taken directly from the RNS

"On 30 September 2020 we reinstated guidance for the full year indicating we would deliver results modestly ahead of published consensus. Although there is still uncertainty around how the pandemic may develop and impact customer behaviour and operations over the coming months, with nearly GBP1.2bn of FY21 revenue already delivered or under contract we are again increasing full year guidance."

So confirming results for 2020 ahead of consensus and increasing "again" 2021 full year guidance. Coupled with the re-instatement of the final dividend to be paid 16 November

Indeed it is, and a strong statement;(though a bit confusing that they use the 2021 nomenclature )

Interesting thought hpcg, if ESG investing is biting then perhaps a materially lower PE is the future but I would have thought that their would be plenty of 'dirty' money out there ready to buy in - unlike O and G the market doesn't see the threat as existential.
