well, to save you the trouble of doing any research at all Elnocapital

an estate agent values your house by looking at comparables, and meets you to do so

a call centre manages the sale

and state of the art software keeps it all humming along with all parties communicating

haven't used it myself (yet!) but I will

friends had a very good experience, and saved a shedload

maybe the chap posting earlier from Brighton, can keep us updated on the service he receives?

Thank you Andy, I agree. About 15 years ago I was looking to sell a previous house. I was savvy about local house prices and was not prepared to pay the 3% I was quoted by the local estate agent. I investigated the options and Rightmove was something I felt I needed. No real options were available, apart from registering a personal website and putting my own board up. Within a week I had 3 offers. I I accepted was over the asking price. Ever since I thought there had to be a better way for a reasonabl price (that registered on Rightmove). An online estate agent does just this. A number of options are available, but Purp has the size. PJ

Numb nuts

What else does it do to market the property then?

Ive always viewed aan asking price as a line in the sand. Houses are worth what people will pay for them. All Purp do then is stick on the portals

oh yes,

I didn't think that at all, you were honest enough to post you have bought, and you believe in PURP, and that's fair enough.

You are bullish, me bearish, and that's what makes a market, and long may that be the case!

I genuinely wish you luck with your house sale, you can always lower if needs be.

Hi Andy, No the house hasn't sold, and probably unlikely to as I insisted on pricing it on the high side and others in the Brighton area have dropped theirs further. I assume you think I am ramping the shares. I am not, just posting my thoughts. I have never posted before that is true. PJ

Rog,

Exactly right.

But he only gets the "hefty fee" if he achieves a sale!

That's the bit I like...........

incentivised by a very hefty fee LOL

we'll see how it all pans out

I am a bull, you are a bear

simple as that really

rog,

From what I have read that 'relationship' is patchy at best, whereas your local dinosaur is at least accessible in his "expensive office / ivory tower",on the high street.

And the dinosaur is incentivised to make the sale or he doesn't get paid, which I think is the biggest conflict with PURP.

Andy

You can have a relationship with your 'local property expert'

it is a hybrid model, and seems to be working, alongside good software and systems

who needs expensive offices

LPE can pay his/her own property overheads! LOL

oh yes21,

I'm pleased for you, has the house sold yet out of interest?

Quite incredible, you registered over two years ago and that was your first post!

As someone who has a decent chunk of shares with Purp and having recently paid just over £900 to list my house with them, I have to say really impressed with the process, the service provided by the local property expert and the ongoing ease of reviewing data & viewing requests. This is the future for the majority (not for everyone) but had no qualms in buying more today @ £3 with an expectation that the yanks will love it. PJ

Rog,

I agree, and it will take some time, IMO.

Online will take while to achieve wholesale adoption and critical mass, and the dinosuars may well adopt it too, which would result in a dog eat dog battle for business.

I just think there is more trust with your local guy, who you can go and visit in his office, and we all know there are some rogues operating, but now you can check prices and valuations for yourself on the web.

itcm1,

Well there is already a rumour that the government will abolish stamp duty for first time buyers, but that's already in the market, so not likely to provide more than a little stimulus, IMO.

Outside London and the SE first time buyers can still buy without paying SD as prices are lower, so the effect will be minimal, IMO. Affordability is the issue, and high rents preventing people saving the large deposits needed, stamp duty is only one part of the equation.

In London there is the perception that prices are falling, and house sales sticking, and that is not good for an advance fee company such as PURP, IMO.

At least with the 'dinosaur in the high street' you don't pay unless he manages to sell your property...................

Glad I got out at 322 although the sharper the fall the sharper the rebound. Someone mentioned 280 as next resistance level?

Interesting times! All I would say is there is bound to be some sort of major housing rumour when we go into budget week, so the volatility is likely to persist.
