Senior cabinet ministers are “livid” at the situation, and are questioning the competence of CRU and EirGrid.

Dermot McCarthy, former secretary general at the Department of Taoiseach, has been tasked with carrying out a full review into the affair and will deliver an interim report by the autumn.

Asked if his confidence in the two state bodies was shaken, Ryan said that despite the problems that had emerged, both had been delivering a huge body of work that should be recognised.

“My experience is that our public servants are highly capable. EirGrid are one of the best in the world on renewables integration. I have confidence in their ability. But my job is to really push and ask the hard questions, and I’ll continue to do that,” Ryan said.

So there you have it Joto nothing to cause concern ryan is awake and on the case and really pushing and asking the hard questions.

I gather most of the EU are building up gas stocks to overcome the supply problems this coming winter , what exactly are the Irish doing to solve the forthcoming shortages , the UK will help but at market prices if there is scope to supply , well that will cost the Irish , far better to become self sufficient with home grown O&G , come on Ryan wake up .

With renewables as I type producing a heady 6.49% of Irelands energy and Coal,Gas etc producing 93.49%, for Ireland that plot is coming to a climactic end I would say.
