June meeting on OPEC:

“With the driver of the OPEC bus, Saudi Arabia, showing no signs of wavering in the face of renewed pressure from Washington, we believe that OPEC is likely to extend the deal for the duration of 2019 when they next assemble in Vienna in June,” RBC said.

RBC said Russia was only a reluctant partner in the supply cuts, but would “ultimately opt to preserve the arrangement and retain a leadership role of a 21-nation group that accounts for around 45 percent of global oil output”.

Beyond OPEC and Russia’s supply policy, oil prices have also been boosted by US sanctions on OPEC-members Iran and Venezuela.

Iranian crude oil shipments have averaged just over 1 million bpd in March, down from 1.3 million bpd in February and a 2018 peak of at least 2.5 million bpd in April, before the US sanctions were announced.

Venezuelan crude oil production has also dwindled amid US sanctions and an internal political and economic crisis, plunging from a high of more than 3 million bpd at the start of the century to not much more than 1 million bpd currently.

It is a slow process to get PMO back over 100p but each day the Company produces a significant FCF and we have Zama news to keep the future looking bright.

US Oil Price Hits $60 Per Barrel, Highest Since November 2018

U.S. commercial crude oil inventories plunged by 9.6 million barrels last week.

OPEC and its allies are succeeding in driving the price of crude oil upwards to levels not seen since November 2018 by sticking together to maintain massive production cuts.

Brent crude, the global benchmark, rose 0.6% to $68 a barrel, which is its highest price level in four months. The price spike was helped along by the federal Energy Information Administration (EIA) announcing that U.S. commercial crude oil inventories plunged by 9.6 million barrels last week.

More on the oil price(s).

Brent is in backwardation with front month $0.2 above the next. May 68.6, Jun 68.4
WTI otoh is in contango with front month $0.25 below the next. May 60.15, Jun 60.4

This tells me that WTI is oversupplied, and immediate loads are trading at a discount, whereas Brent (or the rest of the world) supplies are tight, and immediate deliveries are at a premium.

Almost a perfect situation to be in (unless you're a US shale producer.... LOL..)

deano has been making some good long calls on ENQ recently - and getting some tick-ups..!

Marge has probably been fired for not making us all sell during this 50% rise since xmas. I'm sure he'll be back to gloat when we next fall, (probably from around the 170/180 mark...)

btw, WTI chart updated today with the outgoing April contract.

Great to have this rise but I am expecting it to fizzle out. We all know that PMO was one of the most shorted companies. As soon as the "Traditional" share dealing market starts to swing positive for more than a few days shorters will close out. That puts exaggerated upward pressure on the share price. Once shorts are closed out we will return to the traditional share dealing marketplace.
Will we see 100p before we start to plateau? I hope so but please don't expect PMO to continue going up by 4 or 5% every day for ever, that's not realistic.

Thereafter, there is a trade that appears to be the market maker balancing their books for the day (with a trade of 641363 shares sold for 93.4p.

Why would someone buy shares at 1226p?
