08/3/2016 19:53 | S*ds law ct... 99% of the time if you buy a share it goes down ;-) Just reading that Questor article...."In the FTSE 250, which contains the UK’s mid-sized corporates, aerospace group Meggitt is 64pc US held, discount retailer Poundland 61pc, Paddy Power Betfair 55pc, pharmaceutical group Indivior 55pc, and Domino’s Pizza 55pc." And yesterday Questor tipped Paddy Power Betfair as a 'buy' :-) | ![]() philanderer

08/3/2016 14:40 | He's not going against them, only saying US down selling, because of Brexit risk, or perceived risk from a US standpoint, might impact the share price He might be right, clearly he wasn't last April but hindsight's never there when you want it:) | ![]() paleje

08/3/2016 08:59 | Questor has a column this am, listing co's with a Brexit risk...PLND one of them because of high proportion US investors, not saying the co will suffer in real terms but the share price might because of down selling by US holders:- Beware nervous bystanders Mr Jory also highlights the risk to London-listed stocks from US investor becoming more fearful. “We think that selling of UK stocks by US holders might get more indiscriminate as the referendum nears, if the 'Out’ vote remains a conceivable outcome.” A Liberum screen across the FTSE 100 shows the UK stocks with a high concentration of US investors. Pharmaceutical group Shire at 62pc is the most exposed, while gold miner Randgold Resources has 60pc, utility group SSE 56pc, luxury goods group Burberry 54pc, and B&Q owner Kingfisher 53pc. In the FTSE 250, which contains the UK’s mid-sized corporates, aerospace group Meggitt is 64pc US held, discount retailer Poundland 61pc, Paddy Power Betfair 55pc, pharmaceutical group Indivior 55pc, and Domino’s Pizza 55pc. | ![]() paleje

06/3/2016 20:59 | clocktower Re: your question on Torquay 99p store closure. Only one member of staff on the shop floor. Some stock was discounted on the shelves, but not on the tills. The staff member had no idea of discounted prices. The shelves were a complete mess, in places, stock strewn every and anywhere. Obviously no management input. All of the 99p store staff were being transferred to Poundland. Sorry, I have been off line pretty much for the last few days. red | ![]() redartbmud

04/3/2016 17:57 | A right old two way pull around 168p/169p Clive Black at house broker Shore Capital said yesterday.. "Poundland has not updated on its recent business performance in this update, which leads us to believe that the company still expects to deliver underlying profit within the guidance provided on the 7 January third quarter update" Pushing on with expansion: Poundland opens second store in Exeter New Poundland store opens in Bristol city centre - making it the THIRD in a half-mile radius | ![]() philanderer
04/3/2016 15:56 | Yes, carry on shorting. But you just know some large positions being built imo ready to sell back to the trakers later this/next year on re-ebtry (all engineered by trading genius' imo). I read in IC (i think) the 99p store aquisition was equivolent to 3 years of organic store growth, so on that basis looks worth it. I don;t see any other new competition emerging. Ecconomys of Scale should work in their favour even more now. | ![]() kmann

04/3/2016 09:58 | Poundland Group PLC (LON:PLND)‘s stock had its “hold” rating reiterated by research analysts at Investec in a report issued on Friday, Analyst Ratings Net reports. They presently have a GBX 200 price objective on the stock. ----------------- ;-) Tory candidate for London Mayor Zac Goldsmith took his London mayoral campaign to McDonalds and Poundland today - days after revealing he earned £10million over the last five years. 04/3/2016 09:17 | For what it is worth, on my survey of one 99p store conversion, the Surbiton store is about 4x as busy since they converted to Poundland, and it looks like they have spent next to nothing on the transformation, just changed the stock. Opodio - what are the accounting irregularities here? these guys have lots of cash, generate lots of cash so can fund growth and / or a dividend. the sort of thing the market wants. On the flip side I would wait until they are jettisoned from the 250 on the 18th of March before picking up. Presumably some forced selling. | ![]() oregano
04/3/2016 08:37 | He has the task of pushing a steamroller up hill, and one that is likely to crush him as he becomes overcome by the task, having already seen his wedge starting to be crushed by the sheer power and the huge weight of the task he may have very foolishly embarked upon imo. In for a Pound out for a penny maybe his mark in time. | ![]() clocktower
04/3/2016 07:18 | I would check his service contract. Probably said he has to buy the shares. Jim Cramer always abides by one simple rule. When there are accounting irregularities, you do not ask questions, you do not make excuses, you do not wait for clarity — you just sell. Since this bought 99p shops its been a disaster. CEO quitting gives the game away | ![]() opodio

03/3/2016 17:20 | Well done phil, 9% up - I am still down so far this year having taken a few hits in Jan but things have looked better since and recovering lost ground slowly and with care. Hope you took your profits here and still making them. What makes you think Kevin is the right choice? | ![]() clocktower
03/3/2016 17:04 | Fair play ct , luck for anyone long or short. I made a fair bit shorting BRBY - and have now switched long a few weeks ago , and 3 index shorts - 2 of which are now closed. Tricky markets to make money if you missed out on the miners which I did . I`m +9% on the year so far which I`m really happy with. As for PLND I still reckon the index trackers are balancing their portfolios - PLND only dropped out of the FTSE250 in the last 10 minutes of trading tuesday so it would have caught a lot out. Could take a few days to end this churning. | ![]() philanderer |
