Fingers crossed guys. No big volume selling showing for PLND showing today yet anyway. We`ve got this PLND/IGD trade briefing for the 24th , may help.

I`ve doubled up my ftse short for a bit more portfolio protection just in case..

More of the same in a weak market. Things will be a little different a few days after February the 8th.

ct, fortunately I`m short the ftse100 and short BRBY which is saving the portfolio to a large extent.

Whisper it quietly but I wonder if our seller here is nearly done ?

PLND said sales for the 13 weeks to December 27 grew 29% year-on-year, excluding operations in Spain, to £425m. But two-thirds of the growth came from its acquisition of rival 99p Stores, due to finish by April.

Yes they have been good if short this year phil but those that are could get badly bitten at any point in many stocks. Trouble with Dry January - it seems to have continued into Feb as well - time to start drinking again maybe and putting a little more back into the market.

Taking a couple of pence each time on the upside is also paying its way by being long phil.

I agree lads . Recession proof .

Let the market have it`s fun . There`s no volume here ( not sure why) so any trade tends to move it within the 140-150p range .

Not worth commenting on .

They do both phil they have become a destination store although many would disagree. Even families with larger incomes - pop in to buy so many things (for the kids) because while there they just happen to pick up another batch of items - of course normally they would not admit to setting foot in the place. Snobs & Liars but its ok for the other kids they invite etc etc.

They will be picking up this stock soon enough as well.

I think it depends if you take the view that Poundland shoppers make a special journey to shop there or if they just pop in while out shopping elsewhere maybe ?

Seemed to be the busiest shop in uxbridge earlier this week while others like M&S and Next were empty

Hi phil,

Mild weather - one way or another the press like to talk about the weather, bad weather for selling car batteries is mild weather - or gardeners joy for the garden centres - what weather is best for pound shops - any weather bar prolonged snow as everything and everything that you might need a few of be it for your kids party or spring cleaning tools - no matter what it is sold by Poundland.
