03/3/2016 16:15 | Your new man and wife team down another £12k + so far today which is great news for shorters phil. :-) kMann, If the weather gets as bad as forecast for Easter nobody will venture out to buy a few Pounds worth of goods, not worth risking sliding like the stock is currently. | clocktower
03/3/2016 15:46 | Sorry dlku my mistake , well that`s 13 points to the good on that one :-) ...still 27 pts on the wrong side of that 140p call though ;-) If it make 130p that`d be two outstanding punts. I`ve added a few more @ 165.2p | philanderer
03/3/2016 15:22 | phil i said it was carp at 180p :))) kitchen sink to 130p | dlku
03/3/2016 15:16 | Easter should be a winner imo. Been waiting for another chance to scale a few more. Let the shorts do the dirty work guys, then hit the buy button! By the way, how much are those dispicable me eggs? | kmann

03/3/2016 11:17 | clocktower, I think the new CEO has stated he intends to MAKE money not lose it, even his wifes in on it!. I love it when you shorters get it wrong, makes my life easier. 200p BUY | kmann
03/3/2016 10:56 | Fair enough ct :-) I reckon it was institutional investors who wanted a new man in from outside. The existing guys have not covered themselves in glory for the last 6 months | philanderer
03/3/2016 10:20 | phil, Why do you think the FD was not interested in the job that Kevin took on? Do you think he might have known it will become a hot potato and likely to leave him with a black mark on his CV? Being on the boards of the companies in his past, I do not see how it gives him a clue how to run a Pound Store - no chance of putting the prices up and increasing margins plus with increases coming in the living wage, he will be under pressure from putting his foot in the door imo. I am now in the £1 club and less. | clocktower
03/3/2016 10:10 | This fella`s opinion will carry a little more weight than anomnymous posters...everyone has an agenda including me ;-) Financial Times: Clive Black, analyst at Shore Capital, praised Mr McCarthy’s “considerable achievements” but was upbeat over Poundland’s prospects under Mr O’Byrne. Once Poundland and the recently acquired 99p Stores were integrated, Mr Black said “a tight management team can press on with energising a high intensity and impulsive business, build out the opportunity in the UK and Ireland, grow online and make a decision on the future in Iberia”. | philanderer
03/3/2016 09:40 | coo quitting is there a nasty lurking> | dlku
03/3/2016 09:39 | kitchen sink time to 130p | dlku
03/3/2016 09:35 | Kevin is down over £30k already - if he carries on like this he will wipe out his first years salary before the year is out. | clocktower
03/3/2016 09:34 | Morning all .... hopefully the trackers have just about done their selling now. | philanderer
03/3/2016 08:00 | Shows bad timing and a belief in his own ability by trying to impress investors/market when he should have waited until the share price had slumped to where it is now going imo. Not to be seen as a good start imo, a very poor start in fact as it shows poor decision making the way I see it. We shall see what the market thinks today! | clocktower
03/3/2016 07:52 | Director buy, significant amount too. Good start! | kmann
03/3/2016 07:36 | KOB share purchase announced this morning seems a bit more than the usual gesture. | paleje
02/3/2016 20:52 | Quality appointment. Im intrested in the multi price store concept too. Id have thought the poundland concept will run itself, just supply it with the right stock. They now have GREATER buying power with more shops to fill, so can increase margins. Also can see the multi price shops have great potential to develop, budget electronics for example. Scaled in a few on the dip before 200p breached Exciting outlook. | kmann
02/3/2016 20:00 | What will O'Byrne bring to the role? The new CEO will certainly bring a fresh perspective to Poundland and is sure to strengthen the discounter with his wealth of experience in retail roles at Dixons and B&Q, as well as his chartered accountant qualifications. His considerable international skills in particular from running PC world in the British Isles, Italy and Spain will stand him in good stead to expand the Poundland/Dealz brands beyond its current three markets should the discounter decide to pursue a more international strategy. | philanderer
02/3/2016 17:57 | IC still not impressed 'Poundland chief steps down' Poundland (PLND) chief executive Jim McCarthy has spent a decade atop the discount retailer but he might wish he'd announced his retirement a little sooner judging by the recent share price performance. The group's impressive rise to prominence is no doubt down in large part down to Mr McCarthy's business acumen but the stock has fallen 37 per cent since it announced the takeover of rival 99p Stores in September, where costs related to the purchase have been rising. The job of digesting its acquisition will now fall to Kevin O'Byrne, former chief executive of home improvement group B&Q. He'll need to get going too, considering lower high street footfall means profits for the year to March 2016 are expected to be towards the lower end of the £39.8m-£ IC VIEW: Despite attempts to appear upbeat, Poundland’s new chief faces a challenge to adjust to changes in consumer spending habits. Given the recent share price trajectory alongside declining like-for-like sales per store, we remain sellers. | philanderer
02/3/2016 17:26 | Yep, just confirmed , booted out of the FTSE 250 and back into the FTSE small cap index. 1 million traded ... I`d suggest the trackers dumping. Still holding ct, the adding in the 140`s was good for me so I`m still in the blue here for the moment ;-) Just the two brokers today after the CEO announcement.. 2nd march Canaccord buy tp 250p 2nd march Credit Suisse outperform tp 250p retentions | philanderer |
